Help me understand more. Eg. Henry Park, it says in the MOE update that balloting for outside 2km. Does that mean outside 2km applicants will be considered and put thru balloting? If so, that parents of the >2km will stand a chance?
The balloting result on MOE website is for phase 2B (as at 23 July 2012). You don't know if there will be balloting or not for 2C until the last day of 2C registration. Alternatively, you may take a look at MOE's daily update on 2C registration (http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/vacancies/) and have a good guess. :xedfingers: -

Question - With the latest update in the MOE website, it appears popular school eg. Nanyang pri, Henry Park pri, ACS (Junior) have good ration(registered vs availability). Can >2km apply? What are the chances? Do I understand correctly that under Phase 2C, anyone can apply? Be it SC, PR, within or not within 1km, outside 2km?
Yes, any SC and PR can apply. However, if a school already knows that there will be balloting for SC within 1 km, for example, they might advise you perhaps not to apply if you are PR, or SC beyond 1 km, because your chances of getting in will be zero. I think that depends on the school it would be prudent to look elsewhere anyway if you are already outside the balloting criteria for the school.
Yes. I agree. The numbers look lower because most parents know their chances with such schools and would rather go for the other options where they know they can get in (which are still good choice in their opinion). Failing at Phase 2C is stressful because PR would have taken the rest of the other chocies and you would be left with what is available then. To some, that might not be an ideal situation.
Traditionally, ACSJ will not have vacacies for >2km so really no point unless you are willing to take a hugh risk. At phase 2B last at ACSJ, someone posted that registrations came in the last 10 mins pushing numbers up. It would be too late for second choice then. -
Just called PLMGS. Valid as of now : vacancies: 103, total 115 registered so far [SCs: 93, PRs: 22]. Breakdown of SCs: <1km: 67, 1-2km: 21, >2km: 5
Maha Bohdi was my 1st choice, but I stay between 1-2km, no point registering since balloting required for <1km.
2nd choice is PLMGS (stay abt 3km away), but if need balloting, I may need to go for my 3rd choice. -

That infor was for P2B. Now is P2C, the list if schools requiring balloting and for which distance is not out yet becos P2C has not ended.
To explain the infor, it would mean for P2B those 2km and less have a place in the school and applicants living >2km had to ballot. -
Hi hi, in case anyone is interested to know:
ACS P - 20 within 1 km.
ACS J - 46 within 1 km. All SC. -
If we have successfully registered in Phase 2B via PV and would like to withdraw now to try Phase 2C of a more popular school, is it still possible?
-
HI, anyone found out stats for Temasek yet? Can’t get through the line…

Possible, but you have to withdraw at the school which you got a place under Phase 2B, before making a new registration under Phase 2C. Not to forget the risk as you will be fighting with a bigger pool of registrants... if you failed to get in Phase 2C, you might not be able to get back the seat in the first school. -

Yes, possible. Just contact the Phase 2B school to do withdrawal and register at the new choice Phase 2C school.
But why do you want to do that since you have secured a place @ Phase 2B school?
Note that you will have to compete more intensively for a place under Phase 2C at the more popular school, unless you believe your chance are fairly high.
With this year record breaking so many school will likely to end up balloting at Phase 2C, I will not take such a risk since I already have a place in earlier phase. -

Yes it is possible and you need to do it early because 2C registration ends tomorrow. Maybe you can do everyone a deed by letting us know which school you are withdrawing from? Maybe someone is looking to park their kid there as well.
