wondering how many singaporean within 1km have registered their children in WG? as the registered number (155) for 2C on the first day is already more than the vacancy (91), confirm balloting this time. Hard to decide whether to try my luck...

      Mamasmurf:
Better don't do that cos you are giving up an already secured place in JWPS and trying your luck for WGPR that qms mentioned is a popular school in Jurong West Ext that requires balloting even for those staying within 1km.

What you can do is to monitor the registration daily and weight your chances accordingly.

        hi.

if i am you, i would stick to JWPS since higher chances of getting seat there under 2B phase. plus looking at track records, seems to me that JWPS have consistent good PSLE results. WG looks like 1 hit wonder, u know what i meant? in terms of cca, JWPS too have wider choices? My 2 cents worth.

I will be registering for my son next yr and aiming for Westwood as per request by dear hubby. Bt they going thru ballot too for 1st time, however out of the 244 that applied, not sure how many are citizens.

        bingjun.g:
Thanks for your reply. I went for JWPS becuase I did PV and therefore registered my dd in 2B phase. I had wanted to do PV for WG last yr, but was rejected cos they only need about 35 PV.

I agreed that it will depend on the child at the end of the day whether he or she will be good or not, also depends on the parents' guidance. will seriously think about this and decide by today...

thinking of withdrawing from JW to try WG, partly because saw one of my friend, she gave up 2B chance for JW, and register her dd in 2C of WG... πŸ˜“

Hi, just to share my 2 cents. In the first place, why did you go for JWPS, and now thinking of moving to WGPS? Popularity is one thing, but things can change. JWPS has also been \"full house\" for P2C in the past years, (well, except last year due to the entrance of Frontier that took off some burden in that area), but hard to say for this year. The school might be subjected to balloting in P2C too. Heard around that due to the availiability of the BASC in JWPS soon, it might regain her popularity.

In terms of academic, both schools are comparable. Looking at JWPS website, their top PSLE score was 273 whereas WGPS was about 267 (based on info contributed in PSLE thread for 2011). As for CCAs, you may also consider their achievements and strengths.

At the end of the day, it all depends on the child, both schools are I suppose are equally good.

Yes phtthp, several years ago when I was looking for kindy place for my ds2, I had a premonition already.

This area has many many kids of this age group. I had to hunt everywhere for a place for ds2 and everywhere had a long waiting list. Even PCF. πŸ˜“

Just some thoughts. I think one need to look at how many students scored above 250, 260. Top few scored highest may be due to enrichment classes besides school’s effort. Thanks.

                    http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/vacancies/#jurong-west

                    Frontier
                    271 registered, 214 vacancies.

overwhelming demand exceed vacancies, by 57

is time for Frontier to sieve out SC > 2km, and PR.
In the event no chance to ballot, they still have time switch to other school, before closing time of registration today (last day).

out of 271 applicants, wondering how many SC < 1 km ?
