Hampton Pre-School (by Eton)

lol, insider.
Actually i was looking forward to place my gal in the childcare but was quite disappointed with how dis-organised they are. Imagine some of the classes are starting in December and no teachers assigned yet? I dont feel comfortable placing my gal to be one of the guinea pig. -
For K1 class , the ratio is 1:20.

hi insider
i was also pretty puzzled when they told me they’re adopting the thematic approach as opposed to eton’s query-based. but they explained that eton is an international school hence the query-based method while hampton is adopting thematic method as it prepares the kids for the normal schools. frankly, i’m not familiar with the methods so duno if this is correct.
but you’re right - there will probably be some teething problems but i hope whatever the issues they have will not cause much of a problem for the kids.
juz a thought - actually eton will have to ensure that hampton will be a success as their reputation is at stake here rt? PCF is govt run so they should be more strict since negative public opinion will hurt them as well rt? -
Very interesting info here. Glad that I finally bump into this forum.
Well I do agree with expecting more when I pay more. Hopefully I don’t put my son into the wrong start of his future. -
halo insider
thanks for your reply, i’m more enlightened now. and thankfully i’ve decided to give hampton a miss when they offered me a place in their april class. but i’ve to admit that i was one of the many parents in the "herd" who rushed to register our girl coz’ of the eton name (guilty guilty) n i would say i’m pretty ignorant what pre-school education entails so i was thinking that coz it’s eton, it should be good. thankfully, they had an open house and that gave me the opportunity to speak to the teachers and realised that the centre is not what i expected it to be. i thot eton should have pretty high standards but seriously, i thot they were pretty disorganised, couldn’t really address my queries properly and zero engagement with the kids which made me v v uncomfortable.
and when they told me abt the eton’s query-based method, i juz assume kids in eton are all expats and they will naturally progress to an international school that adopts the same teaching method. but wah, now i realised i m wrong in assuming so. -
