Shebeautiful: You would notice that you do not have a contract with your maid, right? Because the only contract recognised (for Indo) is the contract signed at the embassy. I think you should, to protect your own interest. Also make the maid think not so easy to change employer? Not sure. Interesting to hear what the agency say? Since you must’ve paid them a fee, you should consult them first.

For signing the contract at embassy, the employer or any other adult residing at same address as the FDW can go. Agent cannot.

Maybe other forumers have better advice?

The point that I am trying to make is this: You do not have a contract/agreement with your maid. If you want this, you will need to goto the embassy to get it done.

Else, you can get it done at a later date when your maid renews her passport, or before she goes for home leave.

Hi,

I have a Myannmar maid and I need to send her back as she wants to go back to her hometown, citing all sorts of excuses like family problems ...blah blah blah. Actual reason - she dislikes taking care of my elderly father. She had just caused my father to fall on several occassions and hit his head and she is not even one year with my parents !!!!!

My agency says they will get a replacement maid for me but since the existing maid wants to go back instead of transfer, I have to get the air ticket for her myself and send her to the airport. The only thing they will do is to terminate her work permit for me.

I don't have such experience before and need some enlightenment.

Can someone please advise me like where to get cheap air tickets to Myannmar and what are the things that I need to do ? :scratchhead:

Thank you.
Hi Funx3

If you allow her, can she just take off for 3 days like that with her passport? Is there any MOM regulations or terms and conditions on FDW working here?

1st thing - I Say \"NO\".

2nd Thing - Don't think MOM, or Insurance Clause Cover Out of Sg Incident, Right? Even when we travel oversea, we gotta Buy Own Travel Insurance.

3rd thing - I've initially verbally say OK for her to take a Day Off for Hari Raya. She Say will Go Day Trip to JB with Her Fren. Told her she's not Cover under Insurance, Nor Can I Be Responsible for Her since she Does not travel with our Family. I Told her she Gotta sign written undertaking to be Fully responsible for herself since she's travelling out of country by herself.
Now .... Am Having Second Thoughts ....
Is the Written Undertakings Pakai or Not (in MOM's eyes)?

I suggest you call MOM to check out. I remember they have a hotline, though difficult to get through, once you get the officer, they are quite helpful.
Called MOM.
These R wat the Officer Say :
1. Maid insurance only covers them while they R in Spore.
2. If they R overseas (say go to JB, or Go Back for Home Leave), Employer is Not Liable, and Insurance is Not Covered.
3. Conversely, Even When Maid is On their OFF Days, No Matter wat they did, If they got injured while Off Duty, or even to land themselves in Hospital due to their own Action, etc, Employer is Still 100% Liable for ALL their Medical and Incidental Charges.

I Ask the Officer isn't Point 3 above Bias, and Not Fair to Employers? Afterall, we Cannot be Tagging along to Babysit them, to oversee wat they do on their OFF Days, Right?

Her Advice -
Write to MOM on their FeedBack Section ....

So .... U Think MOM will Reply?

I gave up having a maid because of the system whereby we are actually at the mercy of the maid and agency.

I sent my maid back to Yangon in May. I booked her ticket online at Jetstar, that's the cheapest.
