Kong Hwa

mummy so kiasu:
Some good statistics u have collected. I am staying in sengkang as well but doubted letting him go on the train alone in the first year... The ironical fact is that unless u r that early or late to avoid the jam, the mrt may be faster than driving. Perhaps erp for kpe may be started real soon. The traffic is getting worse by the day. Imagine with the new condos and flats coming online.
It seem that taking MRT is 40 mins whereas taking school bus pick up time is 5.40am. The kid does not have to get up so early if travel by car or MRT comparing to school bus.SharonL:
I'm staying in SengKang as well. I've registered my son under Phase2A2.
Travelling time (by car) from Seng Kang to Kong Hwa is about 20mins.
By Mrt (Buangkok MRT) to Kong Hwa (Dakorta), including walking, is less than 40mins. -
Hi, just a word of caution, the Dokota train station is not very near to school and its not sheltered.

Is Higher Chinese a compulsory subject starting from P1 in Kong Hwa?
-
Yes it is

Hi,
I’m new here. Me making plans for my gals (born 2009). I know its still early but if to do PV or RC or join SHHK, i really need to get moving. Haha… super kiasu.
I’m staying in Blk 5 Pine Close and KH is the only school that is within 1KM? May i know the strength of this school eg CCA beside their Chinese. I really need advise if i need to do PV if so what is the criteria they look for?
Many thanks. -
I hope to share a concern and understand if others face this too. My ds is in 3/1 n I realize that the Chinese teacher for his MT never update us on upcoming CA or test so far. Very often I get the papers thereafter only to realize there was unit test conducted previous week. I asked my ds but answer is always he doesn’t know there was test n neither did his classmates. However for the English medium subjects, I do get notes or letters stating test dates n topics. Now I m not sure if this is my child’s oversight or there really was no notification on Chinese tests etc ? Can any parent of 3/1 verify ? Tia.

Did you try to clarify with the teacher? Hmm yours in P1 or P3? Mine p1, we did get the exam time table for the whole of term3 & 4 at the beginning of term 3 and that includes the chinese exam dates as well. -

Parents should certainly get a timetable for any important tests which also include the pre-tests (not included in any Sa or Ca) for Chinese subject and definitely not after the tests.
You should call the Cl teacher to clarify. -
My kids in p1 & p5. Both brought back letters for all subjects - test dates. But not for mock tests. Best to check with MT teacher.

Usually for papers that would be included into the report book, I think they would give prior notice. We do get for all test and exams so far. Even if the dates are not fixed, the week will be indicated and the teacher will let the class know nearer to the date.
Do you have any other parents from the same class that you can ask?
Or perhaps clarify with the teacher?
