We will be moving to Yew Tee (opposite MRT station) by end of the year and started to get worried about my son's education. We chose there because of work distance, MRT convenience as well as the childcare and primary school. I thought earlier if we live within the distance from school, we would definitely stand a chance to enrol my son to Yew Tee Primary school. I just found out from a colleague that I could be :nailbite: wrong. There are many other deciding factors. Does anyone know of the parent volunteer stuff in Yew Tee primary school? I am getting worried now as I really want my son to go to a school that's near by. I won't want him to travel far to school. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

YTPS has been going into balloting within 1km in the past 3 years. This year, thks 2 the SC priority policy, all SCs got in leaving 6 places 4 balloting amongst PRs (30 of them). If U want to secure a place under 2B (so all 2Bs got in w/o balloting) , u can check out with the school if they still accept PV as u should start clocking your PV starting July, for next year's intake. Thank goodness for us, my DD1 got a place at 2C reg this yr, close shave.

          Hi Snowball32,

Me too registered at YTPS. How did you know that you got in? When hubby went to registered yesterday, the staff told him confirm must ballot. Not sure if she based on total no of applicants vs vacancies or meant SC must ballot. She does not want to give more info.
          H Athen,

I called the school twice yesterday, once after 11am, when the am reg time close. Was told all SC safe. Called again in the evening after the reg closing time. Was told all SC got in need balloting for PR. I also checked the school website for update to double confirm ๐Ÿ™‚
My hb teases me saying that I super kancheong :please:[/quote]

          Hi Snowball32,

Thanks so much for the reply. I will call up the school and try to read up more on those categories (2a?). So by clocking the hours for volunteer work, I would stand a better chance to get in the school? I hope it is not too late for the parent volunteers registration.

20 \tDe La Salle School \tBalloting will be conducted for SC children residing between 1km and 2km of the school.

โ€“ The result of the SC priority ruling? Cos usually DLS if you r outside 1kmโ€ฆno chance. I think thereโ€™s a lot of PR within the area.

                    Hi oneheart,

I also think there are many PR in this area. Previous years both DLS & YTPS ballot for those within 1km. Now YTPS admits all SC & only PR needs to ballot.

There is an interesting observation for DLS. At the end of 2nd day registration, there were 113 applications. Then end of 3rd day, no of applications reduced to 99. Means DLS rejected 14 applicants? They are probably PR since they don have a chance even to ballot. So these PRs probably went to YTPS resulting in 30 PRS ballotting for 6 places as mentioned by snowball.

I am very sore about it. If govt had implemented the rule of SC priority over PR, my son would have gotten in DLS in P2C 4 yrs ago. I am within 1km of DLS and had to register CCKPS in P2CS which is 1 - 2 km away.
