U sure? If I am not wrong, they only can go on leave during school holiday leh. Good meh? Normal days kid sick also cannot on leave....8th August, National celebration.. no classes..

So shiok to work in schools.. -

Used to be for participants at the NDP. Now, seems to be the norm for all schools..
Yes, that's the reason but does it apply to sec schools too? My niece and nephew also don't need to go to school on that day. But no time to play. They have term tests from 13th Aug onwards. -

This is so funnie, but only bcos it's so true .....

Give up after nth tries.. no more energy to fight since there are many more young and capable teachers-to-be around..

If u became a teacher, u wld probably drive d kids nuts with ur endless reasoning on inconsequential things. :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Yup I agree. Damn it, I cant take leave on that day!Lilac66:
Alamak, this innocent looking thread can also turn into a \"debate\". I agree that the kids will look forward to this holiday, parents too.. I'm always hi-fiving with my kid when we see such \"unexpected\" holidays  . don't take it away lah. Give the teachers a break too.

It'll be good if it is a public holiday.. so parents can spend time with the kids.. but it's not. The kids doesn't need to go to school.. but it doesn't mean the parents can keep them company.
:offtopic: but need to rant about it. I applied leave for the first fri of sep (teachers day) and oct (children's day) becos the cc would be closed. My boss, who has two boys, made so much noise, so buay siong about it.
Me also damn buay siong  I told her - taht two days the cc would be closed. you can don't approve my leave application. So can I let my child come to the office?
Haha... She gave in eventually. -

Don't know about you, but if any company dares to reject me 9 times in a row, I surely would have only bad things to say about them.
Today i cracked up a lot. You guys are really turning me into a crackpot. -

I'm willing to trade 14days AL (can take anytime) for 10 weeks paid leave (can take only during sch holiday, minus a few days of extra duties). And that 10 weeks is excluding extra holidays like 10th August, youth day etc..

fyi, some professions/jobs can't even take leave during sch holidays! want to bring kids go holiday also cannot. To be on leave with the kids holidays is a wonderful thing by itself.. isn't it? before even factoring in the duration. -
I don't know about you, but when the kids wear red n white on National Day, I also join in
And it feels special seeing other adults also wearing red n white, giving each other knowing smiles as they pass by each other.
Happy Birthday, Singapore! -
If Govt follow like China, 1 week national day holiday… that’ll be good…
