Well, I got 285, I need some advice... Should I enter Nanyang Girls or Raffles? Alot of teachers advise me to go to Raffles...but which is a better choice? Anyone can help? :? :? :?:

I would agreed with yr teachers. Has a friend whose daughter is in RGS, she went in with a T-score of abt 265. Doing great in sch & most importantly, she is happy.

I also have a friend whose daughter is in Nan Yang and is doing great there. I think what matters most is your attitude. Both schools provide great education, so it's up to you to make a decision. Check out their niche area, your CCA Record and distance before selecting the school of your choice. Wish you good luck. πŸ˜„

See, I m really in a dilemma :? On one hand, hope he can get into HCI, on the other, worried that he cannot cope if he can (by luck) get in. I am trying to persuade him to choose Catholic High for the 2nd choice ,but somehow, he is not very keen. :?:

If he gets in to HCI, he will be able to cope up. Not to worry. Means that being the last one in HCI is better than being the first one in some other sec schools that he dislikes - my opinion. Simply because he is proud to be a HCIans and being proud is important. And make him promise you to study hard if he gets into HCI, likely chance he will.

In additional, some children are not meant to be last or top in class or in school or in career as well, simply adaptation. Put him into a school with him as last, he will climb to the middle. Put him into a school with him as top, he will drop to the middle also..... So you will need to understand your child first .... i think.

So, we got same problem !! Very headache, right ?

Which school you sending her ?

Is traveling to SCGS from Tampines a problem ?

Also, I am not rich, will that be a problem in SCGS ? I heard in some schools all the students' parents are rich & when they do project work the students all go to expensive restaurants. I certainly cannot afford to give my girl so much pocket money to eat in expensive restaurants for every project work she attends. Is this gonna be a problem in SCGS ?

            Thanks
            u sound like u prefer girls sch.right

Just wondering for those with high scores 265 and above which apparently there are quite a few here, how come no one mention NUS high or the new science and technology high school as a choice ?

Is it because those schools are considered not elite enough ?
Or they only take in students through DSA ?

Hi, NUS high does not take in only through DSA :---- i received their email briefly as follows :- SST not sure.

Application for Year 1 Admission 2010 under PSLE Phase
                ------------------------------------------------------------------
                etc etc .....

As NUS High School is not in the list of the S1 posting schools, you would have to log in to our school's website http://www.highsch.nus.edu.sg , under \"Admission\" to make a fresh online application. Students can apply to join NUS High School AND apply to join a secondary school under the S1 posting concurrently. For more information, please log in to our school's website or refer to the posters outside the main and annex offices in our school.

                Pls check out.

                Following from NUS website :-
                ------------------------------
                Year 1 ( Phase 2)
NUS High School is not in the list of schools under the Secondary One Posting Exercise. Students who wish to apply to join NUS High School using PSLE score in our Phase 2 selection must apply via our online portal.

The registration period for Phase 2 is available from 26 November to 02 December 2009 (including
the public holiday on 27 November and weekend on 28 and 29 November). The registration system is accessible 24 hours starting from 11 am on 26 November 2009 until 3 pm on 02 December 2009.

Click here for PSLE Online Application

                Hope it helps

SST only takes in students through DSA. NUS High doesn't participate in S1 posting exercise although you can apply directly to the school with your PSLE results.

So that can be considered as an extra choice for a top student ?
ie apply thru SI posting exercise and apply to NUS high as well ?
