😛 I think Russia, China and many other countries often use policemen, ex-soldiers, and other elite marksmen on their Olympic shooting teams.
Lin Dan the Badminton champion was from the army - explains that \"signature\" salute at the end of all his wins.

Heard d final bwt Lin Dan n Lee CW was an epic match.

        Just caught first few minutes of dat match, but heard Lin Dan was ecstactic when he won;
Lee CW broke down n cried when he couldn’t win d gold for Malaysia.
d support for Lee CW fr all Malaysian colours was great.

Anybody knows whether China Olympic champions r given pension for life?

They used to have a terrible system, not sure if this has improved over the years. Many moved on to become coaches for other countries. If got pension, still need to do that meh? :scratchhead:

Know of ppl who worked in gahmen jobs who continue to draw lifelong pensions after their retirement, even after they moved to HKG to take on another job.

Quite a disaster, don't you think? He also failed to run in the last Olympics due to leg injury. I was also looking forward to see how he do this round as I heard he's good. So disappointed. You know, some people say he's got the whole Chinese Nation on his shoulder as his number is 1356, interpreted by the Chinese as a population of 13 billion and 56 ethnic groups. 😂
Oh dear! Again! Haven't seen the replay. So unlucky for him :lightrod:[/quote]

Found this video for you. It is in Mandarin though. After the fall, he got himself up and limped to complete the race that he didn't get to race in, helped by other runners who had completed the race. He left in a wheelchair. A Chinese commentator stopped short and started crying when he fell. According to sources, he gave his dad a call on the phone and after saying \"Papa\", he broke down and wept uncontrollably. Sources had it that his leg had never recovered, and he took anesthetic to stop his pain to complete the race, but the accident caused his injury to worsen. Looks like it could be his last race. Before he left the track, he planted a kiss on a hurdle.

Thank you Concern2. So sad for him. But he still finished by one legged jumping! What a farewell! He has been under tremendous pressure. Wish he be alright and run a good race, not in race track, but in the track of life! :salute:

well, some prosper and others died a pauper .
