thanks lifestylelink ...I suppose I should treat it as \"free gym\" time for him just that the adults who go to playground with him all sweat because he is like a monkey let loose on the playground.

 I wish my boy got da discipline/ know how to recognize potential danger... tell him it is dangerous he still wan to do[/quote]Not sure how old is your boy, but if he can climb the rock, then you should just let him play freely. Just show him, how to protect himself if he falls, to minimise injury. Like all sports, take safety measures, injury is unavoidable, its part of growing up. Also, I would tell him, he is free to do whatever he wants, but if he injure himself, no one will pity him, so don't cry. Being protective will not help him, remember he is a BOY, he needs to do national service and protect the country. šŸ˜›

        hi lifestylelink,

my boi just turn 3 so I am quite worried when he play with those playground structures that is, well, taller than me. But I suppose you are right, he will need to train up, not very sure how to how he can protect himself if he falls from high up though.

heutistmeintag, they have some interesting playgrounds at Hortpark … 3 or 4 different ones for different age groups. Tiong Bahru park besides Tiong Bahru plaza has an interesting playground with a "train" theme but it is for kids who are 5 and above. (it got my 3 year old all excited and we got plenty of exercise following him in his adventure) . Vivocity and IMM also have some interesting playgrounds.

I bet Daddy can give some advice on that, part of army training. From your description, your son has no lack of confidence and likes physical exercise. Perhaps you can enrol him in rock climbing, not sure if they have classes for children, check up some websites. If not, just pay for him to go for gym lesson. I heard Julia Gabriel overall is quite good.

But in terms of falling, I think the most important thing to protect is the head. Buy him a helmet, if you are really worried, tell him it is a reward for a job well done (at rock climbing). Let him pick his own helmet, he will have a lot of fun showing it off to the other kids. If not, just teach him, to always try to fall forward with hand covering face and head, curl up the body. Anyway, I believe the floor at the playground is cushioned or sand pit, so the fall can't be that bad.

Oh and one last word, you and your husband feel tired because you keep running after your son at the playground. Both of you need to learn to relax and observe him when he plays. Just correct your little boy when you think he did something that will seriously endanger himself, otherwise, RELAX. All of you will enjoy the playground better. šŸ˜„

I am  when he actually make it up the rock climbing wall and after he got up there, give me his hand and say \"I help you?\"

            Am I being too protective?

Talk about protective....once my 6 yr old was trying out the rock wall and there was a bunch of kids behind him waiting for their turn and my boy was hesitant and busy scanning the area with his eyes and when he saw us he shouted...'I need supervision!!!!'

            Hi jedamum,
I think your son got stage fright. Daddy and mummy can cheer for him, helps build his confidence.

 I guess his paranoid thinking stems from our over protectiveness.
Another funny incident was that we gave him a dollar for kiddy rides which was a distance from where we sat.
After a while, he came running back to us saying that its occupied. we told him to 'queue' up and wait til the kids had finished playing.
After another while when the ride is available, he came running back to us again and said..
\"it is stated there 'Need Adult Supervision. Don't leave kids unattended.'
He is very 'law-abiding too'.

He is so cute. 😮 I suggest you send him to some kind of outward bound school for kids. Is he the only child? If he has other playmates, I suggest you let him play supervisory role.

He was the only child for 4 yrs until the birth of my secondborn.
He does a good job helping me keep an eye on his brother (who is the wild one around the house) though. šŸ™‚
Ya...i did thought of and came across an outwardbound holiday programme for kids, but i am waiting for him to be older so that he can join. šŸ™‚

CCKer's can now stop patronizing IMM playground liao.. šŸ˜›

Hehee... šŸ˜‰ Lot 1 has built its own playground called
ROOF GARDEN. Located at the uppermost floor,

                      Boasting a cosy area for a water-playground and a dry-playground,
we liked the idea that shoes aren't allowed in the play premises cos
from experience at the IMM playground, the foam mats are quite
dirty and black from the shoes..

Here are some pictures of the wet play area...

They have also made a TV Room area nearby the playground for the
kiddies to chill... The TV Room has clear circular windows where chill
out caregivers can monitor from the comfort of the indoors. šŸ˜‰

Hahaha buds... Can almost imagine you whipping out your camera fervently snapping away when you go to new spots that you wanna share šŸ™‚

Anyway a pix paints a thousand words yeah šŸ˜„

One thing I would like to share on water features at kid's playground... This happened abt 2 yrs ago when we brought DS1 to Vivo City, hmmm that was one of those odd times where we allowed DS1 to get real wet and dirty... A word of caution is that the water at these water features may not be filtered or treated properly to kill bacteria in the water. DS1 was having fun with the water and fascinated by the water spouting out that he tried \"catching\" them with his mouth and ended up drinking it... Anyway short story is, by evening he was vomitting and throwing out anything that went in, including water and complained of severe stomach cramps... Had to bring DS1 to A&E and subsequently warded for food poisoning. Given our account of what we did during the day, doc identified that the water might have been contaminated. So just a note to all parents who want to bring their kids out for some fun with the water features.
