I think getting into RGPS higher chance than sgs or MGS cos the latter 2 schools' old girls probably become tai tai n stay home n make (more) babies while RGPS prob more career women. šŸ˜‰

Mgs surrounded by private n landed. The total 1 km radius households i believe is 50% less than those neighbourhood school radius. This has made those live within the area kids easier to get in. Toh yi not even within 1 km.

That explain y pei haw is hotter than mgs.

if the odd is higher in mgs, the parents should put their girls in but again, the stress of going thru another round for the son is a nightmare.

              MGS balloting within 1km.

Toh Yi prices are getting exorbitant. But prices of HDB at Farrer Rd is no better...especially with MRT circle line at doorstep. That is district 10. Prime.
              No HDB near Rgps either.
Renting HDB near Farrer road is one option.

Heard Pei Hwa is very hot this year. Toh Yi is the only HDB within walking distance to school, that means less than 1km...as such prices are soaring. But there are no units avail for Chinese for 4/5 room.

Even if the family has a boy and a girl, there is no guarantee they will opt for PH. A friend rented condo within 1km of MGS to register her daughter there...but she has a much younger son and doesn't want to think about his school yet. By then, one will be in Sec 1 while younger one goes to P1.

A friend within 1km of PH with 2 girls and a boy tried PV at PH but was rejected. She was accepted by RGPS instead. She is having a headache now for her boy as it seems more and more difficult to get into the co-ed schools along BT. Sort of regretted when there is a higher chance last year for her girl at PH.

Some prefer MGS cos of affiliation and also, expectation for Chinese is different vs SAP schools!

Based on last year's PSLE results, it is interesting that MGS' Chinese standard is higher than most, if not all, the SAP schools.

Agree. I know of a few friends' whose DDs in MGS/SCGS/NY and they started Chinese tuition since kindy and paid $50/hr. I would say not many parents can afford esp since it's only kindy level. Many SAP schools are situated in HDB estates and looking at the background of the kids (within 1km), there is no way they can attend tuitions and enrichments like most kids in the BT and Novena area. I know of a child in DS's school whose parents spend ard $2,000/mth on Chinese tuitions alone. :yikes:

For SAP schools, the teachers have higher expectations for Chinese, but whether the kids can meet the expectations, it's a different story.

Not surprising at all. PV is in the same phase as Clan/Church and the Presbyterian community is quite big but have few schools.
