All About Primary Schools' Balloting History

90 schools hold ballot! :yikes: That's about half of all the primary schools. Many of them are neighbourhood schools. Something is not right! MOE should anlyse the situation. Many of those disappointed parents just want their children to go to the nearby school, but not those \"top\" schools.
-
What to do? Does parents have a choice? We SG are staying within 1 km radius - Red Swastika, Yu Neng and Fengshan. All donβt have chance to go in. Balloting not successful. Next is Bedok Green - most likely needs to ballot at Phase 2C supplementary. If not, choose East Coast.

At least effective this year, there is SCs admit first policy . MOE cant please everyone! parents should look for good things in the outcome after failed at P2C. There is always other schools near home and every school is governed by MOE. Instead of spending time thinking of fair or not fair, lets spend the time helping our kids to start their new life at school.
sound like U got your child into a school U wanted...
I have to agreed that have to get a school for my child...and get him ready for it...

Moe sbs demolish schools with low poor enrollment. Build new schools like what they did to frontier in Jurong.

Some parents are being more realistic...at phase 2C, if they are staying more than 1km, it's better to head elsewhere than go into phase 2C supp.
But didn't expect Jurong west and sengkang to be hot.
Honestly 90 schools this year compared to 87 last year having to ballot is indeed crazy...some SC had to be turned away. -

Yes, phtthp - Frontier Primary received its first batch of pupils in 2012. There is another new school Westwood Primary receiving 1st batch in Jan 2013.janet_lee88:
Jurong West is densely populated, with many school-going kids. Especially for this year, I can see that from the P1 registration - seem to have more Y2006 borned babiesBut didn't expect Jurong west and sengkang to be hot.

Yes, you're right !
is safer for parents staying > 1km to try some other school.
If balloted out in 2C, even the 2nd choice school may be gone. -

Waiting list can take up to 3 years FYI.I'm very disappointed with MOE system. Like other parents we just want their children to go to the nearby school. if there's a good reputation school nearby, that's a bonus. My son had fail to register a place in pharse 2c. I will not proceed to registered 2c supplementary as all good decent school nearby had no more vacancy. My son had been put on waiting list in \"Pei Chun\", \"Kheng Cheng\" and St Andrews\" Junior. I'm sure priority is still give to PR ways before Citizen.
if MOE really want to help, ask one of the school to take in my son otherwise why not enroll him in P2 n let him try. if he cant perform then downgrade him to P1 or repeat P2. -

Whatever displeasure or unhappiness you have with MOE, it is unfair to let your child bear the brunt of the consequences. By depriving him/her a proper school environment, it is not going to change anything. And who is going to educate your child when both parents are wkg? Do not commit one mistake after another. That's my view. If you have time, maybe you ll like to read up on the 90-10 principle. 10% is what is beyond our control, 90% is what we can control, by our attitude. It's not easy but it can be done with practice. All the best.

Daniel, besides Montfort Junior (Hougang), can also consider Zhonghua in Serangoon.
can also put up child for transfer to Marris Stella (another school).
