        Hi,

We just have to accept our fate if our child is not able to get into a school after balloting at Phase 2C. Having our children being put on waiting lists is just a formality. Unless there are parents who needs to move to new flats, then the waiting priority comes in - then the Principal will have to conduct interviews with parents.

We should have an open mindset that other neighbouring schools are just as good. Just a thinker ‘it is our child who is going to sit for the assessments, tests and exams, not the school’. If we parents are able to nurture our kids well, be it physically, emotionally and psychologically, we have won the battle.

Like other worried and fustrated parents, I’m unable to get my child to the preferred school which I want, which is within the 1 km radius. I cried the whole morning and done self-reflection at home. However, I need to accept the fact that it is not the end of the world. Most to most, we have to engage a school bus for her. As working parents, I have to engage student care services which is near to my house. My parents and parents-in-law could not help as they stay far away. Do I have a choice?

Besides home coaching that I had with my daughters, I will gauge whether they could study on their own once their P1 results are out. Then I will decide whether tuition is necessary. They are still so young, should let them enjoy their childhood life rather than stress them too much.

The bottomline is, be positive and do the best for our child.

Which are the good schools among the ones where P2CS admissions are available? Should I try for the newly created schools, or the old ones that noone wanted to join until now (eg North Spring Primary)? How come there are so few takers for established schools but so many contenders for newly created schools (eg. North Spring Primary versus Springdate Primary)? Among the newly created schools, how to choose one over another?

High take up rates for new schools could be due to variety of reasons. Newer facilities, more defined school direction, more young house holds in the vicinity, better advertisement from the new school, inhouse student care etc.

IMO, which school to choose, you can look at their special programme if any, cca offered, proximity. You can also see past statistics to see their take up rate in phase 3 to have a feel of what will be their likely eventually intake. While some people prefer non popular schools for its small cohort, there are also concerns over how much variety of programme the school can offer with such small demand. Go visit the school and listen to your gut feel. If you can’t overcome the prejudice, no amount of what others say will sway your decision.

Good luck in whichever will be your choice.

Hi, I have captured a snap shot of the MOE balloting page for Phase 2C this year but I'm not able to upload to the website. Please PM me your email address or list down the school that you are interested in.
