My eldest child did not get into our school of choice (2B/Within 1km) but if you asked me which is more disappointing - \"failure to get into preferred school or did not perform well in exams in whichever school\", i would say it is the latter. My point is that as parents we should not be discourage with the registration outcome but must continue to ensure that our child perform well academically and in their overall upbring. It is not the end of the road but beginning of a long journey.
:goodpost: thanks for putting things in perspective. -

Fully agree. Know of one kid who couldnt get into a branded sch, and landed up in a not so popular one.
Kid did very well and treated like a queen there. Very happy.
There is a silver lining in every dark cloud. -

I am in the same boat as you. My gals (paisei i need 2 vacancies cos twins :P) also due for P1 reg next year for 2014 intake. Piggy year, many children were born due to Golden Piggy year? I am living in Holland, directly opp Holland V, pretty near to Fairfield & HPPS. Both sch are within my area but, looking at this year results, dont think I can 'grab' a seat from them no matter 2B or 2C. Cos to Farfield my distance is 1.4km & HPPS 1.5km. I am not able to go for balloting under 2C either cos this yr 2c needs balloting for all under 1km only. Really hopeless here...how ah? sigh.....this system really sucks. From now 2012 Aug, I got to be very stressed over this until next yr July for registration Sigh !!
this year many schools of good reputation require balloting less than 1km. Only st margaret and marymount still got chance. You may consider, not much choice left unless moe increase 1 or 2 more classes for Henry park or Fairfield Methodist. You can try approach your mp to help appeal to moe to increase 1 class. At same time, you also write in on your own initiative to moe appeal. Have to fight it out. -

If st Margaret has affiliation, you may want to consider that option. -
Between ST Margaret and Marymount, ST Margaret is more popular because has affiliated secondary school. Marymount doesn’t have. Marymount appeal more to parents from catholic background. St Margaret appeal more to parents from Anglican / Protestant background or free thinker.

I just could not sleep last night. My dd got balloted out at phrase 2 c yesterday. It is very disheartening as we have been planning for last years and move closer to the school to at least has a chance to ballot. I keep telling myself that it is fated and I have to move on and see it as a fate and accept it. But it actually does not help at all. I have been crying and really not sure how long it will take me to accept this.
Hi,
I went thru phase 2b ballot balloting but unsuccessful <1km. Decided not to go thru e same heartache of hearing the ping balls rolling out but not my number '13' but other number fr 1 , 3, 8-12 skip 13 then go on 14-18 or so! It is a horrid experience. So phase 2c, we went to apply a sch wi a secured place.
As a parent we hv done our best, let it go and look fwd to how we can let our dd experience their most enriching learning & happy 6yrs of pri sch.
Good luck & have a good celebration after your phase 2CS! -
For parents whose kids didn’t get chosen during balloting, do not lose heart.
I know it’s easier said, but going to another school than the one you wanted may be a blessing. The teachers may be more patient and principals could be more willing to engage services of external vendors to help parents coach kids at home. Back then, son’s tutor registered her daughter in a school at Jurong West. The principal knew the headaches faced by parents, like not knowing how to guide them in math…so he set up workshops. -

2Cs also go through the same procedure as phrase 2C
I thought i read somewhere that phase 2Cs is first come first served? Could be some outdated article.... or is there a phase that i do not know of that is based on this first come first serve system? -

Same here...:( Im still feeling upset after so many days. Friends have been consoling me telling me things happen for a reason, blessing in disguise...I very much want to accept their consolations, but i cannot convince myself. Now, Im overwhelmed with the dilemma deciding for another school come 14-15 for 2Cs. And I dread to think what will happen next, if there'll be another balloting session that we might to go thru... -
