Hi Twinsmum,
Just go through the pages of this thread and you can read more about the school. Me and other existing parents have written quite a bit about Beacon and what we like about it.
CCAs are from P3, although they do have a 7 week Learn To Swim Programme in P1. The school has many CCAs like Visual Arts, Robotics, Science Club, Choir, Scouts etc.
If you are really keen on BCPS, then you should consider doing PV to ensure that you get into the school in 2B. The school is very selective in taking in PVs who want to clock in hours so it may be best for you to start talking to the school when your girls start K1.
Hope this helps. If you want more information, do write in specifically and me and other parents will try and help you.Twinsmum:
Hi,
I'm new here. Just a bit kiasu to find out more about Beacon before i decide whether to move back to my condo in 2years time. My gals born in 2009.
Can anyone kindly advise me the strength of this school and the CCA available. I'm also considering BBPS/CHIJ. Not sure whether do i need to do PV to increase my chance or not. Btw, i tried the One Map, seems like i don't know how to use to check my home distance. ha ha..
Many thanks in advance. -

[quote=\"fishopk\"]Any parents in Beacon care to share with me your child's experience in any of the after school care centres?
Thanks. Am scouting for one for my child. Would appreciate any recommendations.
Currently, my kids are in Adelfibel. The teachers there are quite good so far for me. The children will be wailking back with the teachers daily, rain or shine. However, I engaged a schoold bus for my DD & DS as thier schoolbags are really VERY VERY heavy.
You might also want to check out Pro-teach (Teachers there very fierce-Kids are really intimidated by them) and Little Professors.
All the best for your search fishopk.

Besides 17 Nov which is Orientation Day, will there be other days that we will need to go to the school (prior to start of P1)? I haven’t receive any letter from school but I’m curious what will be done during 17 Nov. Can someone help to shed light? TIA.

Hi,
No, you will not need to go to school before the Orientation Day. But sometime after that (mid to late Nov), you will need to go to school to buy the books, uniform and arrange for bus (if needed).
During orientation, you and your child will be separated. The children will be led to the class and kept busy while the teachers and principal will be talking to you. You will also be taken around the school.
My memory is quite hazy about this since it was some years ago, so if anyone has anything else to add here, please feel free to do so.Bluepanda:

Hi Mummies & Daddies,
does anyone here got the meal coupon (breakfast & lunch) from school to your children? I would like to know how much will it be? thanks -
Hi,
Is it true that Beacon P3 onwards students hv no or less homework as compare to other schools?
Beacon is considered as Future School. So how does it incorporate IT into its curriculum? Will the P6 kids hv difficulty adapting to secondary schools? If Beacon Students are so much into IT?
Can someone advise?
TIA! -
Hi,
This depends on the teacher I think. My children do not get much hw, but others say they get a lot!
In Beacon IT is incprporated into the curriculum from day 1 and they use it in subjects like English, Maths. As to whether the students will have difficulty in adapting to sec school, we'll know only in 2014 as the first cohort will sit for PSLE next year (2013). From what I think they definitely use more than the usual schools, but this is good as the school gives them skills which are more useful in secondary school and beyond.
Hope this helps!dearzen:
