Has anyone received CO from ACSI?

No, still waiting.... neck getting longer....

A GF's son DSAed under tennis had received words from ACSI's tennis coach: \"Please don't let the DSA result affect your son's PSLE\".... She took it as a NO.
      So sad....

It is quite nerve wrecking, isn't it? Poor kid.. that is a difficult situation to read.. :nailbite:

        Hi Yarna,

My DS also applied via HAST šŸ˜„ Heard from a friend who called up their office that the HAST results have been processed but selection is still in progress. DSA(IP) results will be out near to or around 20 August. Successful candidates will all receive calls.

So looks like for this year, it's a longer-than-usual wait... :xedfingers:

autolycus, are you an educator with ACS, if I may I ask.

That's an interesting question. I've PMed you. šŸ™‚

            Hi Autolycus,

do you have any info on the selection criteria for MGS girls going onto the first batch of IB in sec 3 in 2014? (that is those in Sec 1 now). I understand that they have to undergo a selection process next year, Sec 2.

MGS selection criteria have to be similar to ACS(I) selection criteria. But 'similar' does not mean 'identical'. šŸ™‚

Hi wp2012, in theory there is a process that includes input from students and teachers. In practice, it is somewhat random, as I've observed from looking at the kinds of prefects we get out of it. The best process we ever ran was the one starting with the S3 overseas trip — that one, if done properly, produces enough material for a 10-page dossier. However, not enough teachers are trained in qualitative research methodology to collect useful observations.

So, to conclude, don't be worried. It might be a blessing to let your son ease his way into the complicated world of adolescent leadership... šŸ™‚

                      Hi worried parent2012,

                      It goes something like this:

                      1) Around August, nominations begin. Either teachers/CCA teachers can do the nominations. In the past, I believe a student can nominate another. (not sure about this yr though).

2)Then each nominee has to get 10 teachers (inclusive of CCA teachers) for their assessments. (basically a 2-paged form for the teachers to tick and submit to the Prefect master)

                      3) Nominees who passed the assessment round will proceed to the PSC (prefects selection camp) which used to be a 3-days camp. Traditionally, it's during Sept hols. But this year, it has been shifted to after the yr end exams.

                      4) The nominees will be assessed by seniors and prefect masters during the camp and those who passed the PSC round will be put on duty at various spots on a daily basis (mentored by senior prefects) for about a month to have a taste of it.

                      5) The selected nominees after the above phase will be invested as Assistant Prefects during Prefects investiture in February next yr.

                      cheers!
