Is GEP really necessary?

Iq scores? I don’t think so. The GEP tests are not internationally standardized IQ tests, though they have their own EP to administer tests if they want to. From what I know, everything is confidential, parents and third party psychologists will learn very little from them. But 2ppaamm will be in a better position to advise u on this.

The boy you mentioned was accelerated one year even before he started formal school on the back of an IQ test, has GEP parents, and the grandfather (a doctor btw) worked to his bones to get him where he is. Not every family has that kind of support. He has many things to keep him very busy, including his music which he drills day and night. Only time can tell how he will turn out and I believe this is one gem for GEP. Nice to watch!

If you think to grill a child at P3 for GEP is too early and ruthless, there are some who know to do it before they learn their ABCs. It is about who has the knowledge, the power and the money. Such is life...

Special provision was made for him to enter SAS when MOE's general policy was all SG children must enter d SG school system, even if dyslexic.
d eldest wan has some learning disability, took his time thro' sec school n graduated fr NUS.

Don't know which one leh :? it was a LKY speech published by SAS that was already taken down in recent months, him thanking the school for helping his grandson. Some say it is LHL's son, some say LHY's son. I don't know. You can still surf out some sites that quoted him.

Well if your child is suspected to have a learning disability, one of the tests administered by a psychologist would normally include an IQ test. So children who are tested for dyslexia for eg. would have taken IQ tests.
