      XYZ1:
DS recently came back with English Practice paper where he did his comprehension correction and apparently he copied some model answers from his eng T.

When i looked at the qns..that had \"...why....\" I was surprised to see that the model answer no longer require \"...because...\"....
Eg Why do u think Mr. Tan had to feel his way to the kitchen?
model ans: It was pitch dark.

I sent an email to T for confirmation on whether if this is in alignment with MOE guideline for comprehension and the answer was yes.

I would like to check with the other P2 parents and also higher primary parents...is this same understanding u have?

I asked my friend whose dd is currently in P2 RGPS, but she said RGPS still answer with \"...because...\" leh....so now I'm confused.

      thanx

Just checked with my son. He received the same instruction as yours, which is don't start a sentence with 'Because'; even 'It is because' is not encouraged.

        Sweetmango:
Janet thanks. Ok will get them later in school!

I am not a very hands on parent hence I only know about Pei Hwa Chinese steaming in primary 1 last month. May I know if this is true? Do they test and stream the kids in may or November? And what does it mean by Chinese streaming? Top 5-10% goes to best class and so on and so forth?
Welcome to the club, sweetmango. Looks like we've someone in charged of fruits [for the BBQ] now. :siam:

With regards to your query, there's no streaming for CL for P1 & 2's. You can take a look at those P1 HCL assessment books in Popular as a gauge. Be forewarned, the last time I did that, I got a big shock! :yikes:

          Hi sweet mango,

Since your child is in pei hwa, you would need to get higher Chinese assessment books. It is slightly more diff than normal chinese. Don’t worry, you will get the hang of the tough stage initial as experienced by many of us. In the meantime, take a holiday first…before kid starts P1. Off peak holiday is going to be history for school going parents-to-be.

Fully agree with Janet, we had 4 holidays last year. No homework to worry about. This yr. . sigh. . . .can't go holiday in peace cos DS had unfinished homework, even though the trip was only to Malacca.

Something to share. Attended a parenting workshop at PH and one of the topics was EQ, IQ and AQ. AQ is the ability to handle stress. Through this, I understand that certain level of stress is good for the kids. They need to learn how to manage this at a young age. Somehow, the suicidal rate for males between the age of 20- 29 is the highest as most can’t handle stress. Thus, I think it may not be a bad thing that PH is quite stressful according to some parents.

Hi, what kind of stress are you referring to? Academic or non academic? Some form of stress n competition is definitely healthy.

                  Stress threshold varies.

I remember my younger boy had penmanship issue in P1. He was a perfectionist then- wanted his writing to be exact copy of a printer. Imagine the rubbing & re-writing for both EL n CL? It was hellish for all of us then.

Now every teacher complains his handwriting :spank:

Yup...all the best to the P6s kids...one of whom is my son.
Done what he has. Now is to go for it. But I have been reminding him, be cool. It's just another oral. Don't get nervous.

:rahrah: One down. English Oral tomorrow.
Son was stressed last night...he only slept at about 2am. Gave him some paracetamol for that tension headache.
Have reminded him to relax relax relax...bcos when he is too scared, everything will be forgotten. When this whole PSLE is over, I will have some experience when it is my daughter's turn.

P and her 2 VPs gave the students some motivational talk...also asking for some donation for the upgrading.
