Im new to this and my DS will be registering next year.
Due to the hot demand at RMPS and Zhangde, Im left with
Gan Eng Seng Pri in the BM area.

We are 1-2 km away from GES.

I dont see much updates on Phase 2C for GES

Pls enlighten me

Generally you should be quite safe to try GESPS staying at 1-2km as this year balloting only for those only at more than 2km. Forget about ZDPS & RMPS as the chance is very slim for you as they have reach a saturation point where balloting only for those staying at 1km only.

titank - How do i check if i m needed to PV or be grassroot leader? Do I check with the school directly? In that case, I think RVPS is the nearest to me and likely to have a higher chance as well.

It is up to you if you want to be a PV or do grassroot work. For PV, the school has to accept your application. For grassroot, the constituency has to accept you too. I believe PV work tend to be on weekdays during working hours whereas grassroot work tend to be after office hours, weekends or public holidays where there is events for the community. I think for grassroot, you will definetly have to stay in the area, otherwise they may not accept the application?

I personally dont believe in sending my kid to a school that is too far away because getting to school by 7.20am in the morning is no joke if you have to drive a long distance, someone need to pick up the child after school too. So I wouldnt suggest Henry Park for you.

Also my impression of Henry Park is that the school has a lot of well to do kids (because of the district it is in), when I last checked the website, they were having an auction of paintings to raise funds. Do check out the culture of the school before you enrol. There may be such \"hidden costs\" that is involved.

for zhangde if do pv or GRL and get in at 2km for 0-1km still very safe

As at 1pm, Cantonment Primary have 4 (1Km) & 29 (1-2Km).

Those more than 2km better seek other primary school elsewhere.

I suddenly recalled that a new primary school will be built along Alexandra Road (opposite Gan Eng Seng Secondary). Read about it 1 or 2 years ago. Totally forgot about it until just now, i passed by the land. They are doing the piling of foundation now. Guess it will be ready in 2 years' time?

A little more information on this I got from MOE: This new primary school's address will be officially 2A Prince Charles Crescent, and will open in 2013 for 2014 Primary One (P1) intake. However, it's expected to be completed only around end 2013, hence, it will not be ready to hold an Open House prior to the P1 registration in 2013.

Tried to get more info on this school from MOE to no avail though

Strange why that site is chosen. It seems like low density populated area.
