Thank you to all parents/students who have shared experiences of life in SOTA. Dasalo is always helpful. May I know which faculty your dd2 is in? You must be very proud of your children. They are talented and fortunate to have a parent like yourself.
I’ll definitely need to ask for more info/advice should my girl get into SOTA next year. I like to read all about life as a SOTA student regardless of their faculty. I think dance intake is roughly 40 students while music takes in ard 30 or so students? No idea abt others though. I guess SOTA has guidelines to follow too on their intake. I think I heard that during the open symposium during the dance talk. -

Thank you and my pleasure to share, my dd2 is in VA. Pls do reconfirm with SOTA as both my dds are already in the higher yrs, guidelines and regulations etc may change from time to time. I've not been updating myself with SOTA's events lately and may missed out on important issues.Thank you to all parents/students who have shared experiences of life in SOTA. Dasalo is always helpful. Thanks , Pixie and Dasalo! Very useful info the past few days from you 2!
And yeap, like Pixie, I heard that dance intake is only about 36-40.
VA is the largest and music is the smallest (something to do with the 1-1 coaching perhaps?)
Pixie, you mentioned that for the writing component, they are given a choice of 3 and they choose 1. What types of questions are given? Factual, general knowledge ones? About self? About their art form? Pri school question type? Are they looking at solely language or maturity of thought? -

The writing questions are compo type, for example one of the questions this year is \"where do you want to live and why\". I suppose IB requires good writing skills. -
Carpe diem:
Yes. It's creative writing. They can read you from what and how you write. The why part is to see how you reason things. This is crucial because many students will fail in these subjects if they can't write well. Subjects like Literature, ARC and these are important subjects. The other part is your art form, ultimately you have to be good in your art form. I \"think\" (pls reconfirm) they make it compulsory to take your art form for IB now. You can't drop that subject at yr6 anymore.Ragamuffin shinobi:

I can’t remember the other questions but it had nothing to do with factual or general knowledge. I think they are looking for one’s ability to write well, maybe also to assess their maturity.

Hi dasalo,
Your dd1 is doing music and dd2 is in VA, can you comment on which one is happier with their chosen art form, program, cohort? I ask this because my dd has CO for music and is considering to switch to VA. -
Hi
I know the students only need to qualify for express course. But I would like to find out if anyone has kids in SOTA and who scored in the low 200s (not more than 210) for PSLE? Is your child coping well academically? Since we can’t change school once we accept the offer, I have reservations whether to accept the offer or to choose a school where students are of similar standard academically. If you prefer, you may email me privately. Thanks alot. -

Mrs Cheng:
I can't speak for sota but I think schools will in general help their kids cope by giving support such as remedial, etc. The more crucial factor is the child's attitude, discipline and resilience. I believe that sota will want their kids to do well once they enrol there.Hi
