267 I thought NYGH is the natural choice if distance is not a problem. Can be very tiring to travel. Experienced it as I live in the east.summer,
i let my gal read yr lastest posting, she was quick to point out this
But I admit I had a more enjoyable time in DHS.
told her..........since she 's the one who chooses this sch, she better don't regret 4 yrs down the road, when it comes to JC yrs. -

hi azwildcat
My girl got 258+2. She would like to applied for DHS, but I am not very optimistic that the cutoff point will remain at 260 this year as DHS cop seems to be on the uptrend in the last few years.
welcome to DHS thread.
personally, i don't think this yr COP for DHS will fluctuate much, go ahead and try. -

distance, yes is far and tiring....
but not so much for gal( she still can take nap in car) will be tiring for her dad, who needs to fetch up and down , 4 times a day x 22 days x 12 mths a yr...

Thanks for the encouragement. Will try DHS as the 1st choice. -

Oh since distance is a problem then should be DHS.. Next time when she's in year 3-6 I guess she will be taking public transport with her friends. I take about 60 mins to get back from Bkt Timah actually. When I get home, too tired to do anything.aiyo.......summer, don't shaken me leh

But ehhh honestly I thought a parent will choose the 'better' school..
Btw can I ask why you didn't consider RGS? -

why do you think that DHS is not the 'better' school?
you enjoyed yourself in DHS in your 4 years there... and i think DHS actually give a very rounded education and instilling good values. look at yourself.
Augmum,
i think since your gal has already decided on DHS, then DHS is it. She is the one going to spend time in school, so its better be a school that she loves going to. Furthermore, its nearer for your gal to go DHS right? I say, 1st choice = DHS!
hugehugsmileyface,
hmm, yes, VJC took 10 years to produce a president scholor... and he is none other then your principal - Mr Sng! Mr Sng is a very passionate educator and he has insisted on education as his career choice since young. He has done an oustanding job in transforming DHS and maintaining DHS as one of the top schools in singapore. -

I was speaking in terms of academic rigour and perhaps, practicality..Hey Summer,
why do you think that DHS is not the 'better' school?

Hi Summer,
I see, but this is quite personal feel isn't it? If you think the academic rigour is not there, meaning you are not easily stressed at all or you are very clever in your studies and hence no problem with it. However, when you are talking about A levels in HC, its a different ball game altogether. One cannot compare O's with A's. For O's, no matter how stressful, you get your 4 years preparing for O's. But for A's, not to mention that the standard is much higher than O's, you only have 2 years to prepare for it. Therefore you prob feel the academic rigour in HC.
In fact, I know a Ms Lee from NYGS commenting that how come their (NYGS) results are not able to beat DHS's. Actually both these schools are very good schools, its up to its students to make it a good experience in the school they have chosen. -
Hi Augmum,
Have you cosidered letting your daughter do the \"Direct A level\" course in Dunman High?
I have a friend whose son enroled for this before the PSLE results were released (seemed like it did not matter).
Anyone has the thoughts on this alternative as compared to the 'O' level -> 'A' level route?Augmum:
hi hugehugesmileyface and summer12345
Now, the results are all known..........
before that, i told myself not to think abt the choices till gal got her results(can buy time)
now, cannot don't think, have to make choices soon
still undecide whether to put DHS or NYGH as 1 st choice
asked my gal again, she said.......\" anything loh......both also good\"
equal to no answer......

u mean the IP (intergrated programme), whereby the pupils only need to do the A levels bypass the O level.
yes, DHS offers IP, and DHS oso has 1 class (i was told) still offering O level.
if DHS has no IP, definitely i would pick NYGH.
