Hi,

Needed some help on this question.

Jimmy runs 4km/h faster than he walks. He walks 1 1/2hr and runs the rest of the time over a distance of 6Km. If Jimmy walks as far as he runs, find the amount of time he spends running.

Answer given = 1/2hr but my answer is 3/4hr. Will greatly appreciate any assistance.

Hi, appreciate any help :thankyou:

This is more like a test of English.

You have interpreted the sentence in red as \"distance which he ran = 6km\".

They have interpreted the sentence in red as \"Total distance = 6km\" i.e. distance which he ran = 3km.\"

I would pick your way of interpretation.
Hi,

Thanks for your help

:thankyou:

Hi

Please help to solve this question. Thanks in advance.

Leon bought some terrapins and guppies for a total of $96. He bought 3 times as many guppies as terrapins. He paid $30 more for the terrapins than for the guppies. Each terrapin cost $10.40 more than each guppy.

(a)How many terrapins did he buy?

(b)What was the cost of each guppy?

This question was discussed - http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=280&p=755281&hilit=guppies#p755281

It would be good if you could do a quick search for keyword to see if the question was discussed previously, in this thread.

cheers.

Would appreciate help on the following questions:

1.Sam is 5times as old as his sister. iN 10 yrs time Sam will be 12 yrss less than thrice his sisters age then. How much older is Sam than his sister?

Age now,
Sam's sister --> 1 unit
Sam --> 5 units

10 years' time,
Sam's sister --> 1 unit + 10 -- \"thrice\" --> 3 units + 30
Sam --> 5 units + 10

Sam is 12 years less than his sister:
5 units+ 10+12 = 3 units + 30
1 unit --> 4

4 units --> 16

Sam is 16 years older than his sister.

cheers.

:thankyou:
