Hi, my gal not successfully being selected in Jiemin, so i ve chose Peiying. Is a 2bus stop away fm my hse. No choice… I have appeal to Jiemin, but chances is v v slim. Very upset for it. In future I need to cater a sch bus for my gal. So is Peiying good ? I went to the school also,is not as big as what i think. academic likewise I really dun noe. I am staying at Blk 726, have chosen a student care under Aceachiever near my hse. May I know if the PCF student care near Peiying good?

Hi qq_guy, can empathise with your disappointment over Jiemin as your block is just a stone's throw away from the school. But since now our girls are in Peiying, let's be positive & give the school a chance...who knows, it may surprise us! Further, come orientation on 16 Nov, we can get to know more about the school

For student care, I chose PCF as it's near to Khatib MRT Stn & my block. For me, so long as the centre provides a safe & peaceful environment (for napping & doing homework) for my girl, it'll be ok. Besides, I heard that the auntie who prepares food for the children cooks fairly well.
Oh yes, the PCF allows children to join them earlier say in Dec. In this way, the child can get used to the environment & won't have to face too much adjustment when school starts. I intend to do so as my girl can begin to make friends with the other children who are likely students of Peiying. This is killing 2 birds with 1 stone

Hi FairyPenguin
Just a little feedback on student care. My son is in P2 at PeiYing (PY) this year and he is attending ProTeach student care.
I did a site visit to the PCF (near Khatib), MFS (Blk 796) and ProTeach before I enrolled him at the latter. I would rank MFS above PCF. The PCF student care didn’t impress me at all even though it was just a stone throw away from PY.
I find MFS has a better environment if you just want your kid to nap and do homework. It is on the 2nd floor with an inside staircase going down to childcare on the ground floor.
Well, as to why I didn’t enrol him at MFS (even though he was a MFS graduate) because I wanted him to attend in-house tuition classes offered by ProTeach.
Hope this helps. -
Hi Queen or Maid (*cute name :p),
Thanks much for sharing with me. The info is very useful
I didn't know there were so many student care centres in the vicinity! Only noticed PCF as it's the most visible & so near to PY.
I tried to google MFS but can't find anything on the centre.
As for Pro-Teach (Blk 846), I browsed their website. Seems quite good as the centre will guide the child to do his/her schoolwork. I'll call the centre on their fees & visit them this Sat to reccee the place
Based on your experience so far, is Pro-Teach good in terms of the environment, quality of the teachers, food etc. -
From my nickname you should be able to guess I am in a household of all man.
Pro Teach is good because of the tuition and they monitor their homework too. Usually two teachers will pick them up from school gate then walk to center two by two (with one teacher leading and another at the back). You will see the kids enjoys the walk where they will mingle and laugh BUT do note that they have to climb the overhead bridge over at Khatib station. Once at centre they will shower, eat then tuition till 4.00 pm and stop for half an hour tea break. From 4.30 onwards it will be doing homework. They do guide them on weekly spelling too.
My first impression of Pro Teach venue is cramp and warm (they didn’t switch on air con when I visited on a Sat). So far no complain on food from my son.
The person in charge is Ms Cindy, a nice lady.
MFS is at 796A, just behind blk 798 with police post. They opens till 7.30 pm. There will be auntie to pick up the kids from PY and walk them back to MFS with a small fee (for the auntie). The person in charge is a Malay guy. This place is brighter and more airy.
After I dropped PCF I heard “story” from another kid mum. So that sort of finalise my choice. -
Hi Queen (I prefer to drop the 'maid'), I really didn't guess that your household is male dominated. What came to mind was the 'maid' part as it quite fit my context...I always jokingly tell my daughter I'm not her maid. Haha..
I've spoken to someone from Pro-Teach. Apparently, they do seem to be better than the PCF that I've visited. I like it that the centre will guide the child to do homework & there's tuition. In this way, my girl won't have to wait till I come back from work to teach her how to do her homework. I've made an appointment with Pro-Teach to visit the premise this Sat. Hopefully, I'll like what I see
Hmm...I wonder what the 'story' on PCF is all about but I doubt it's a pleasant one. Never mind, I'll check out Pro-Teach first.
Thanks once again for introducing me to more options

Hi Queen Or Maid,
Oh so PCF is not as gd as u think?
As I m staying at Blk 726, so still thinking if to put my gal at nearby student care near Peiying or just stick my my student care at Ace achievers at Blk 729 Yishun St 71, as is quite near to my hse.
As I m a working mother, I need to fetch my son fm childcare then fetch my gal fm student care, so the distance likewise is v impt to me.
May I know what is the mkt rate for the private student care ? As d Ace achievers cost $320, but they got provide also the in house tution, i find tat not bad.
But if in house tution, i dun noe if my gal will feel tired,as morning time already wake up very early. So is best to attend tution on wk days or wk end?
But the Ace achievers, inside is quite small, dun think they got the enug space to nap.
How big is the Pro-Teach? How much is d cost, ur son also tution there? -
Hi qq_guy,
From my conversation with Pro-Teach yesterday, was told that they charge $330/mth. 2 teachers will wait for the children at the school gate & line them up in pairs before escorting them to the centre via the overhead bridge. The children will eat & shower at the centre before tuition & finally school homework. There is no time to nap actually. It's best to visit the centre personally to check it out. Give them a call at 67595953 to find out more

The impression I had on PCF was so so and I find it not as organised as the MFS. But I didn’t get the chance to view the area for their afternoon nap (apparently another place at the same block). Don’t think they guide them on homework, just ensure that it get done.
Pro Teach charges $330.
Yes, my boy was flat out at night for 1st half of the year. I guess he was used to afternoon nap at childcare. I just make sure he is in bed by 9.30 pm and gives him supplements. But he is used to the timing now, back from Pro Teach still have energy to go cycling and sleeps at 10.30 pm. He gets up at 6.15 am.
The homework guidance bit is crucial to me because I reach home close to 9.00 pm after dinner at my mum place. The tuition is an advantage, and I free up his weekend for tv and activities time with some light assignments. You know… work hard for 5 days and rest on weekends. Otherwise this poor mummy will be working solid 7 days – 5 for bosses and 2 shuttling kids around.
If you don’t have help, proximity is important. Which childcare is your younger boy in? Plan your “pick up” route so you don’t have to run like a “headless chicken” when running late!

Yes, the homework guidance is good… It is nice after a hard day at work to ask your kis "how was your day in school" rather than "have you finish your homework?". -
Hi yellow belt,
So u will let ur kid join pro teach?
As I m living quite far away then the sch, i might choose my nearby student care.
Hi Queen or Maid,
Thanks for the information.
My son childcare is at Averbel, quite near to Yishun MRT.
So when I knock off, i will fetch my son then go straight to my gal student care.
Think I will choose my nearby student care,as I have to consider of the distance.
Btw, do you know for pro teach, wat is the max cap for kid during tution ?
Acutally I have spoken to my student care nearby my hse, they say they dun quite monitior for the sch homework, the kids have to ask teacher if unsure, is this the same operation for pro teach?
I actually want to choose pro teach since ur son is there.
But I have to think for long term,as I will still appeal my gal to my nearby sch at Jiemin, so I have to stick to my student care.
But I just want to know the student care operation for home work supervison & tution.
Different student care operate differently?
So how much is the tution for pro teach?
My student care charge me together with the tution is $499, is it reasonable?
My main concern is the academic
