it depends on your needs
Sep / Oct is peak season for conferences, hence hotel room rates go north (as the locals say - seafood price) -

When we went HK disney, we stayed at Disneyland hotel and loved it. It is an overall experience which may not mean much to some, but was fun for my kids. It was my little girl's first experience with Disney (my boys had been to Disney World in Orlando already), so it was extra special for her and became infectious. My girl liked the fact that there was a kids size bathrobe and bedroom slippers for her. 7 dwarfs packaging toiletaries etc. The princesses also appeared at the hotel lobby for meet and greet. We had brought her cinderella dress for her and she had a makeover at the hotel and then went to take pictures with cinderella, aurora, Alice, snow white and belle. It made her day. :please:Hi i am planning a trip to HK this coming Dec holidays with hubby and 2 boys, 6 & 8. Intend to stay at disneyland hotel for a nite.

Hollywood Hotelβs daily room rate is cheaper. It caters more for tour groups. Disneyland Hotel is more exclusive. The character buffet breakfast is at Disneyland Hotel. So if you are going for that, much more convenient to stay at Disneyland Hotel.
I would recommend you to stay at Disneyland Hotel -

Yes yes. We had character breakfast and dinner at Disneyland hotel. They also serve Disney design dim sums in the chinese restaurant. They were so cute. But when we were there they had a stitch outdoor dinner at Disney Hollywood hotel and we tried that too. But I understand that may not be a regular event like in Disneyland hotel. And really Disneyland hotel is so much prettier

I have stayed both holywood and disney hotel. personally i find disneyland hotel better cos that is where all the action are .
