All About Life Without Maids

Any reason Miele is better than the other brands?? I am looking at the slimmer Bosch, since it takes up less space than the usual models.Coolkidsrock2:
Anybody using a dishwasher? Any advice? My maid is leaving in 2 days time and I will not want to do any washing as I only get home around 8.30 in the night. Kids asleep by the time I finish cleaning up. Thanks in advance.
Buy the biggest one you can afford. That way, you can put in as much as you can and can even wash just once a day. You can put in all the pots and pans as well. Always use a good dish washing tablet or powder, never use those dishwashing liquid which will destroy the washer. Never over stack the washer, and always make sure they have room to be washed properly.
I have used many brands. The best I came across is Miele, which is expensive but supper effective and quiet. It is the best machine I have ever used, and still going strong after 10 years, though I only learned to use that properly last year. Love dishwashers, without them, my hands will be as old as 80-year-old woman.Saves water too!
And where do u park your dishwasher? I need to get a contractor to run water inlet and outlet and it will be quite a distance from my washing machine. I wonder if it will work. i try to ask a a number a people, but no one was able to give me a definite answer. -

I don't own any of the 2 but I did my research when I was contemplating for one but end up none because I don't think it suits my lifestyle as I don't like to leave dishes unwashed for a long time. Thinking of the maintenance eg. gasket, descaling, additional cost for detergent, what can or cannot be put in Dwasher also a deterent.

It is better to place the dishwasher next to the sink as it makes it easier for you to rinse remains off the plate then place inside the washer. Water inlet and outlet should also be nearby.
Miele has 3 layers of filter for catching food remains and it is easy to access.(that was my main concern for any food left in the Dwasher = bacteria, though one might argue that the hot water would have killed all) Interior material used is also neater and better quality, IMO. I think Miele has 3 spray arm and top cutlery basket (Now Bosch has that too). After sales service I believe is also better compared to Bosch though there was no need for any service of my other Miele gadgets in 3 yrs but my Bosch washing machine has gone thru a minor change of parts in 4 yrs. My enquiries to the service centre for Bosch was also a pain.
You can google for reviews between the 2 products. -

I enjoy using the Miele one, and much less the Bosch one. The Bosch one still does the job, though, I will be handicapped without it.
Depends on your water pressure. Your plumber can run the line for you, but it will decrease your water pressure, and I am not sure if it will be unsightly if you run the pipe and how far. Chances are it should be ok, but suggest you ask the plumber to come and check before you purchase one. You will also need power, and drainage. Hope this helps! -
Hi
Does anyone know of a reasonable laundry place which will wash/dryclean carpets?
We have quite a number of pieces but they aren't really expensive carpets so I'm loathe to spend too much cleaning them.
Appreciate any \"lobangs' that anyone has -
I'm thinking about buying a new wok . I'm not after any \"wok-hei\" but just want it easy to clean, light, with no need to use much oil and quick to heat up for stir-fries.
I'm currently using a traditional hand-hammered stainless steel wok, but I scrub this clean (so it doesn't have much of a 'natural\" non-stick layer at all) and all the scrubbing is getting to me.
Wondering if I should switch to a non-stick wok...
Any experienced Mummy chefs can give some advice? Thanks so much in advance -

How do you all find time to iron? It takes up much of my weekend time. Any solution?
How about getting part time maid?
I used to be ironing over the weekends too.
Now I used part time maid agency to clean up the house during sat. 2 helpers will come and one will clean the house while the other one will do the ironing !
Save a lot of my time ! -

Give it to me! Haha...lol
You can separate your groceries. One fridge for food to cook items and the other dessert and drinks esp the freezer compartment where you place your ice creams, food smells does not cross over. -
