      mummy so kiasu:
Just to get the opinions of those who have completed the past year papers. Among all the GEP schools, which school set the toughest Prelim papers for 2011 & 2012? Is it Nanyang Pri?

I think my DS' school sets even tougher papers than NYPS. My son can actually manage the Top School papers quite well but his school paper was a killer. Highest mark was 85.

And pssssssst... it isn't even a GEP centre ok...

Sounds like my DD's sch too, especially for English. Hence I had no choice but to use papers from 1 year ahead from p4. Now at p6, she is just referring to past mistakes - english only. No more worksheets.

Think perhaps that's what more & more neighbourhood are doing? They know the 'standard' top schools are setting & this is their way of \"exceeding\"?

I do not believe in hot housing style practised by schools. That will burn out my child before sep 27. No way. I’ve been waiting for prelims to be over, so that my son can get work done at his pace.

This morn, he slept till 8. Did math past year. Then took another nap at 4. It’s definitely all about building momentum now. He’s having tuition now.

Interestingly, some of the schools like RGPS have relatively easy Math Prelim papers. For RGPS, one of the average classes' Math average score was 93%. My friend said that some of these girls are now complacent, think that they have 'arrived' and need to be persuaded to attend Sept holiday classes.

You DS had a day off from school? Nice!

I took mine out of school for 2 days to do revision with him before prelims.

We don't use textbooks at all for PSLE revision. Unless your child is very very poor (i.e., Foundation level) the textbooks are not helpful.

I took mine outta school last week. He did Math practices at home. Today, he has his nose in a book on the psychology of lying. Stress levels are way down. His brain is kept awake. This afternoon, I will get him to do Math.

I kept son at home yesterday and today. He slept till 8am these 2 days.
We ate breakfast and then he did tuition hw. After completing paper 1, he took a shower. When he has rested enough, he resumes. Before tuition this afternoon, he will have another nap.
A happy child will be willing to study better.

Textbooks are not helpful. School booklist didn't even have 6B Eng textbook. Asked the HOD if there was any error. She said no point buying 😉 :rotflmao: . So far, only the CL 6A/B textbooks and 活动本 are used. The rest are collecting dust at home. Teacher didn't use Science & Math textbooks at all.
