Kirakira,Harini, I just posted on the other forum on ACSI, that we are in exactly the same predicament, weighing the same factors/risks. I also prefer six yr no headache.. just one psle is quite enough, right?
I talked to SJI several times, they are not able to disclose much since things are not finalised and talks are ongoing. I'm not very sure if when implemented our boys will miss the boat, as I heard it takes a couple of years from APPROVE to IMPLEMENT...
Gosh, if takes another 2 more years, then no hope lah
. I will call t'row and see what they say. Will keep u updated.
So looks like we r back to square one - still confused with our options

Regardless of Ip or not, I still enrolling my son into SJI. seems to me like a nice school. Actually, to all the schools Iβm looking into, SJI seems to be the most friendly and color-blind (PM rally citation). Not also do they have good academics but they also seem to have good character building, one of the best, if not the best in singapore schools. They also have an exponentially less stressful environment than other top schools.

Hi,
Called up SJI today. Their status on IP is still unknown as they are still in talks with MOE. Also not sure when it will be started and if it will be offered to Sec1 or sec 2 students. So best is to make choice w/o IP.
I must agree with CentralControl, after talking to the SJI staff, I am very impressed with their friendliness and willingness to help. It looks like a very balanced school too. The only thing is have to take O level. Wish SJI gets their IP soon, will be a good choice for kids with COP 248 - 258 range. -
What really strikes me is that, regardless of its relatively low cut-off score for PSLE, they are still able to produce brilliant O-level results, with half the effort. With half the effort I mean, just look at how slack SJI is. The students justhang around and play. On weekends they go out and play again, very few homework, lots and lots of school holidays (not really holiday, but practically nothing to do in school but sing) but they still band 1!! its amazing. thats why I got my hearts sets so much on SJI. Its a top school, but it doesnβt act like it. soo humble. oh yeah, practically no bullying and no elitism within the school

Sound like RI. Play play can also score A. I dun mind if they really paly and score, well balanced :celebrate: -
My friend's son, got around 7 \"yellow forms\" from SJI. Yellow forms are like, disciplinary actions by the school when you don't do ALOT of homework, so like, a month's work could be like worth 1 yellow form if you dont do them. so its like, he never did any homework to get 7 yellow forms! but when his 'O' level results came back, he got a 6!! I was really surprised. I always see that boy playing. lol :?

Probably the lessons are so effective that the students absorb them so well, that they need not revise very much after that? Really effective learning! -

Based on what was posted from the letter (extract above), you can see that if there's dual-track model, then even if your child gets into SJI, he may or may not be in the IP programme. Could also be in the O-level programme.
u may want to see the reply on the webpage

Dear parents, supporters, friends and fellow Josephians
SJI Integrated Programme (IP) Stream Proposal
<snip>...
.... MOE also said that based on the profile of boys that SJI takes in, our proposed dual-track model, where both GCE βOβ levels and IP tracks are offered, is appropriate.
... <snip>
This dual-track model is similar to ACS(I)'s.
Anyway, it's not approved yet, lah...so better base your decision on non-IP. -
Hi,
Any idea what is the fastest route by train or bus from BB to SJI?
