Since the teachers are not NIE trained, do they know the syllabus well enough for upper primary? Any feedback?

TAS, like most other centres, have ready prepared materials for all levels. These materials are probably prepared by someone who knows the primary school syllabis well. So, in actual fact, for most tuition centre, the teachers do not necessarily need to know the syllabus. They just need to follow the materials to teach accordingly. After teaching for some time, most of them probably know the syllabus by then.

I don't think TAS teachers are NIE trained. But does that really matter if they are able to teach and engage the kids?

NIE trained does not always equal good teaching. I have put my kids under NIE trained teachers but they cannot deliver. TAS has proper training system I think so anyway because the teachers tend to teach in the same way, with the same emphasis so it is obvious that they are trained and I find that centres who train their teachers well can be more effective than centres that rely on NIE to train their teachers…

Not sure about their history but it's been running for a few years now. Apart from one that I know, the rest I don't think are NIE trained - they look way too young.

But, but, based on what I could hear (nowadays they change set up so i can't stand outside the classroom and wait anymore) previously, they could hold the class' attention and there was active participation in the class. Initially, I was surprised that even my kid would speak up during TAS class (in his school, teachers usually feed back that he is very very very quiet) - so that says a lot about how much 'fun' he's having.
