i see. hw much is the critical thinking component? as in 50% ? could u give me an example of what a critical thinking question is like? n how wil the kid know if he/she answered correctly if that portion of the worksheets are not returned? i presume they wil go thru the answers in class…

From what the instructor told me, they will do 2 booklet- one basic and one critical thinking maths in the class and homework for both.
Example of the question for each level can be found from Enopi website. You can have a look.

The instructor will do a dianogstic test on the child to determine what book to start with. basic maths and critical thinking maths may not be the same level.

Parents with children at Enopi, correct me if I am wrong.

my kid is taking the enopi math. Before the child enrol in the course, he need to take a diagnostic test to determine which level he start with for basic and critical thinking.

In my opinion, it is quite good and the book is quite colourful. Morevoer, i think the booklet that they bring home to do is not taxing to them as well.

It just need to make the child to be discipline.

Somemore, normally in the class, they need to complete at least two booklet of critical and basic thinking, if i am not wrong.

Just another comment.

For my kid portion, the book is marked and returned back. mostly, if there is mistake, the teacher will make him do correction.

Nowadays, math is not just learning but must understand as well.

You mean the critical thinking maths portion will also marked and return to you?

They will only return the basic maths portion for correction and not critical thinking potion.

What about the english component of enopi? Is the structure of the lesson similar to kumon? What are your comments as compared to kumon for english?

Sorry… I am just not for Kumon/ Enopi for English. I feel that their core competence is in maths and not language. So what if they can produce worksheets that target at language learning? To me, language learning is not just worksheet, it’s an exposure and experience such as speaking, listening, etc… it’s beyond worksheets. Similarly, I also wonder why people send their kids for Kumon chinese??? Probably out of convenience but I feel that there are better centres/ experts out there for languages. JMO

i've seen how a boy as young as five or six reading chinese passages (without the hanyu pinyin) with ease. i dun see him struggle coming to the kumon chinese class. instead he seems to enjoy his time in the centre.


i agree on the convenience - so tempted to add in the kunon chinese together with the math. but my dd refuse to go for the class even when it hasn't even start! we can only guess that her first impression of the chinese teacher during the assessment was not great.
