I think that is common behavior for K1. As my K1 girl sounds like that too. She is only starting enopi in Jan 2010 and so far, the instructor is aware that this is what she will be expecting. We can't expect kids that age to sit still.

The difference between Kumon and Enopi worksheets are Enopi worksheets are more colorful, with cartoons,etc... so it is more appealing than the dull kumon worksheets (nothing but numbers). I would suggest that you actually visit the outlet to have a better understanding.


The amount of homework I feel is not as much as Kumon too. Kumon is daily worksheets. But Enopi 2 booklets is not little as well. There are many progressive arithmetic questions too and usually problem sum at the end. It's just that I am trying to enforce the kids to complete within 2 days. Depending on the topic, it get more complex so sometimes the child might take a longer time. Personally, I think 2-3 days worth of worksheet is sufficient, there are other subject

We can take back the basic worksheets but not the critical thinking portion.

thanks MMM. since the nature still seem similar to kumon, makes me hesitant to switch. not surprisingly, my dd does not like too many worksheets and the centre instructor has reduced the number in accordance with her age. the no. is manageable, just that, as a kid, kind of \"sian\" to have to do homework every night, if u know wat i mean? and considering all the available math enrichment like abacus, kumon, mpm, all seem to involve some kind of homework on a daily basis. which makes sense since math is definitely about regular practice.

location-wise, kumon still makes more sense/ more convenient for me. and my dd stil ok for the time being. so think i'll stick with it in the meantime.

Yes, I totally understand. The struggle with the daily worksheets. It's nuts :lol: Enopi is not as bad in that sense.


Something you need to consider is that such programs like kumon, enopi and probably mpm, progress the child based on their ability. So the earlier you join a program, you will be able to progress faster. This is the reason why I let my youngest start Enopi from next year.

Personally, i felt that it's good to identify a suitable program early and stick to it. It's not advisable to change as doing so means the child will have to start all over again under the new program.

Undeniably, the program have different focus eg. the enopi instructor related to me that alot of her kumon convert kids tend to do badly on the critical thinking portion which they are not exposed to so they have to start on a lower level. So that also means that if you intend to switch one day, you might find that your child is \"disadvantage\" by the late start.

Just some thoughts.

i see. hw much is the critical thinking component? as in 50% ? could u give me an example of what a critical thinking question is like? n how wil the kid know if he/she answered correctly if that portion of the worksheets are not returned? i presume they wil go thru the answers in class…

From what the instructor told me, they will do 2 booklet- one basic and one critical thinking maths in the class and homework for both.
Example of the question for each level can be found from Enopi website. You can have a look.

The instructor will do a dianogstic test on the child to determine what book to start with. basic maths and critical thinking maths may not be the same level.

Parents with children at Enopi, correct me if I am wrong.

my kid is taking the enopi math. Before the child enrol in the course, he need to take a diagnostic test to determine which level he start with for basic and critical thinking.

In my opinion, it is quite good and the book is quite colourful. Morevoer, i think the booklet that they bring home to do is not taxing to them as well.

It just need to make the child to be discipline.

Somemore, normally in the class, they need to complete at least two booklet of critical and basic thinking, if i am not wrong.

Just another comment.

For my kid portion, the book is marked and returned back. mostly, if there is mistake, the teacher will make him do correction.

Nowadays, math is not just learning but must understand as well.

You mean the critical thinking maths portion will also marked and return to you?

They will only return the basic maths portion for correction and not critical thinking potion.
