Imagine if all our schools were to practice/adopt this culture, what is our educational system trying to bring across to the world and to our kids -

I agree that the first line in the article can be misleading. However, is the CHS Mgt Committee also an external support group? And also, if this has been going on for years, then it does not seem like the school is against this ideaThat website is a great twister - twister of facts, and you guys fall for it and start slamming the school. PLEASE go read the website carefully :
Quote : \"the event is organized by CHS Management Committee, CHS Alumni and the Parent Support Group (PSG).
The memo wrote that the PSG Exco is appealing to parents who would like to show their heartfelt gratitute to contribute a present to this event, and listed the โproposedโ presents as โshopping vouchers, dining vouchers, current digital gadgets or home appliance, tour packages, etcโ. \"
Is this organised by the school ? Is the memo sent by the school ? Is it organised by the school ?
I don't understand why people can be so twisted - both the website and the people who sent the info to the website!! If you buey song and don't want to contribute, so be it. Just don't bother lah, and for heaven's sake don't twist the facts! CHS is not cheap skate like the website or the info provider
In this instance, not forbidding it is indirectly allowing this to carry on, don't you think?
I wonder if the parents have sent this to the ST instead. Maybe not, to protect their children, perhaps? Are there other platforms for disclosing certain truths yet allow contributors of the news to be protected - at the same time being able to reach out extensively for awareness? -
concern2:
usually in a school management committee, only the school P is a member, the rest of the committee are outsiders like alumni, grassroot ppl, clan rep, or in this case, the Catholic Church rep.

if it is run along the line of annual D&D, using the teachers' day occasion for the event, there shouldn't be anything negative about it. parents don't wish to contribute can just leave it as it is.
as many CHS parents posted here, such letters are nothing new nothing extraordinary nothing fishy.....creating a hooha mountain out of a nohill. nothing newsworthy at all
may be a Pri 1 parent with an axe to grind
