      Imami:
      PhoBIA:

The teachers are only allowed to work 6 hrs outside their Sch job scope.

But it's unlikely they will have much time left after school hours and miscellaneous task.

6 hr per week? Per month?

Hi Imami, the MOE guideline given is 6hrs per week, so that's 24hrs a month.

Errr.. How did u know that they are drawing $10k per month? Where to find those info? Did u use the 8% n work backward to get $830 or 5% n work backward to get $700. Normally, low %-mid % for high salary n mid-high % for low income.. Maybe taking average is about right. So, 10% adj n get $700 increment for AEDs, so monthly salary about $7k or 8% adj n get $550-$850 increment, so monthly salary about $7-9k for GEOs and SEOs.

Just my 2 cents for top teachers, still high!

We did pay them well and why we are not getting what we are expecting! Just wonder how did they allocate the resources pf GEOs, SEOs and AEDs to all schools? :? Can we assume all SEOs and GEOs are principals and senior HOD?

It states up to $850. So I guess it must be the top ones who earn that amount and this caters to a select few. If the principals fall into that category, isn't the pay too miserable for the fact that they manage a large staff and large student population? I understand teachers do not have hospitalisation benefits too.

Principals and some very senior teachers are on a different scale - super scale grade. And it's more than $10K per month. They are not subject to salary addjustment this time round. You can read yesterday's ST, quote \"They will have their pay reviewed separately, the ministry added, without saying when.\"

Teacher is 5%-15% and up t0 $700 ma, the range can be very wide from maybe about 2k - 9k
The press release clearly stated the 5-15% adjustment is for AEDs. This % is not for classroom teachers. The % applicable for classroom teachers is the single flat % of 8%. And for the 8%, it's mentioned the $ amount could be up to $830. So yes, based on simple calculation, there are senior teachers drawing > $10K gross mthly salary.

Where are all these senior teachers? Do they belong to the branded/special schools or spreaded all over the schools? Or are they hod or so,something?

No idea about sec and higher.
While HODs are in-charge of the various depts, senior teachers are more into mentoring.
They are very experienced teachers who are usually not interested in leadership positions.

Chinese Papers Lianhe Zaobao on Saturday reported that most teachers who are degree holders are on the General Education Officer scale and earns from $2880 to $6900, non degree holders earn $1480 to $6000.

Senior teachers, Subject Heads and Heads Of Deparments who are on the Senior Education Officer scale would earn from $4000 to $9000.

Do u know that 1hr tuition can fetch 150$ for moe teachers, so 6hrs 900$? 3600$ for 1 month. No wonder teacher quit to give tuition outside. Moe has no choice but to increase their pay to retain them.
