My child is also in PSH Aroozoo and they have a long wait list. If you’re not willing to pay, I’m sure the long wait list will be.

I think it’s more of the long wait list tat they think they can afford to increase the school fees.

Exactly. This is simple supply and demand. For every parent who is unhappy about fee increase and threatens to withdraw, there will be ten other parents waiting for a slot. So Why would a profit making business, who is ultimately responsible to their shareholders/investors not consider increasing fees regularly?

The logical business decision is to increase fees to the point where marginal demand meets supply, which is when there is no or minimal waiting list.

This is just how a free market works, nothing right or wrong.

i just gave up mine in PSH serangoon. not due to the fee increase. they really do have a long list, they didnt ask me why i gave up..haha...dont even treat it as a chance for further improvement. with the long list, they simply don't care. i get the part of teacher retention part that they need to increase fee, maybe rental too. the women who called me was very polite though.

Hullo. I have been following this thread. I have two girls at Pat’s Halifax. They love school and they love their teachers. For now, we have no problems getting them up and wheezed to school in the mornings, for which I am thankful.

Is your branch doing the parent(s) volunteer for Teachers’ Day? Taking an hour slot to do stuff with the kids? Are you signing up? I hope you are.

This is my second time volunteering. This time I’m roping in my very-busy husband. Only if you particate in one of these acitivities will you know what it takes to care for/teach/enjoy 14 to 16 very excited kids! You will appreciate what the teachers do everyday. You’ll be able to see how your child interacts with the other kids etc etc

Last year I was struggling with low self-esteem after gaining so much post-delivery-weight. On the day I did crafts with the kids, my daughter was so happy and kept on telling her friends ‘that’s my mommy, that’s my mommy’. She was so proud of me despite of how I felt about myself. That was the best booster and who would have thought? - From a class of 14 very excited kids!

I have been following this thread since my child was 4 years old. It was the feedback from this thread that reaffirms my decision to enroll my then 4 year old. He is finally graduating this year.

Just wanted to share my experience about PSH Halifax.
My child enjoyed himself and look forward to go to school. The teachers are kind and patient. And the programme is good - it prepares my child sufficiently for primary 1 in a fun, loving way. No stress!

Of course, whenever there is a fees increase, parents are not happy.
Just one word of advise - which has been shared many times over. If you pull out bc you want to show the mgt that you are not happy with the fees increase, many others are more than willing to pay the fees in your child's place to get a spot in PSH which has a long wait list. This is indeed a cruel reality but tt's fact of life.

Nw tt my child is gg to P1, I no longer need to bear w the hefty fees - or so I thought. Until I researched on enrichment classes. Many are also increasing their fees from year to year.

                Well... 😞

                    Hi Glorymum,

You mean Patricia will be totally out from the Pat’s group? KU will be in full control now? This is worrying…
Noticed that Pat’s standard has been dropping, or rather, the rest of the childcare has caught up while Pat’s is not making progress.

Be it english or chinese, I realised that the kids from My first Skools are much faster.
My neighbour showed me her son’s worksheets from school and they are alot more difficult than what Pat’s teaching.

For example, my neighbour’s son who is same age as my gal, already learn how to write 灯, and when i asked my gal to read that word, she told me she never seen before!! And in Pat’s she is still learning basic strokes.
As for phonics, the school has already teach them enough to be able to read simple books themselves!

Checked with another 2 friends whose children are in different My First Skools and their reading and writing skills are indeed better.

Anyone did any comparision with other schools? I dont expect Pat’s to be more advance than other schools but it has to be on par, at least. Really hope that next year, the K1 syllabus will be comprehensive enough to catch up with the rest.

Hi - I was informed by Pats that their Halifax branch gets to keep their lease on for another year. Meanwhile however, they are not planning to invest more money to maintain the place since they have to move out at the end of 2013 anyway.

Can I check with parents whose kids are attending Halifax if they notice this? ie that the place is getting more run down ?

I am planning to enroll my 2 kids to their K1 and Toddler class next year..anyone has feedback on these classes/teachers?

                        TIA 🙂
