Let the A level results speak for itself.

Of course, RI is still way at the top of the table based on statistics, followed by HCI...
But do note, none of the schools ever reveal the performance of their bottom say 10% (just giving a random figure).
What happened to them? do you mean they were not considered into school cohort?

In addition to academic performance whereby RI’s mean of 85.5 vs HCI’s mean of 84.5, culture and distance, one needs to feel comfortable studying in the chosen school.

Another important factor is which school can provide your dd the best opportunities to excel in her cca or the likely hood of representing her college in national competitions. Just base on straight As without a good cca portfolio is considered only as good in one aspect. If a student aims to study for free in our local unis, a good cca record is a mandatory requirement. As both are the top girls’ schools, the positive feedback from some existing girls while informative cannot be totally instructive as is based on one’s personal experience only. No two persons are the same!.

For those who are highly capable and posses leadership qualities, evaluate which school is the most ideal platform to position you to sieze top student’s leadership positions ie president/vice president of student council or at least president/vice president of respective ccas. You will definitely be asked this question during scholarship interviews or selection interviews for admission to medicine and law faculties.

Remember you are not just competing within your own schools but the entire cohort.

Due to affliation which allow their own primary schools to enter at lower aggregrate. Hence personally I concluded that RGS and RI are up to higher standard.

Nanyang or HCI are run by pool of chinese businessmen. In businessman's world,\" I buy your product, you buy my product\" , everything OK liao.
I think most schools in Singapore have chinese businessmen in their management board including HCI and RI.

Earlier on, there was also some comments that infer pulling of string to get into the school. I think MOE won't allow this and I hope everybody just keep a vigilant eye that such thing never happen in Singapore.

There is probably some lack of understanding about schools that have a chinese cultural roots. Communism and materialism is a later development in the overall chinese history. In general, chinese culture is great and has its fair share of weakness and strong points. The challenge is then for the schools to keep points with merit in chinese culture and also adopt western elements which are beneficial also. Open-mindedness is the key.

Friend - you are innocent 😉 :imcool:
For sec sch there are ways to do it... because appeal is not solely academic.
The sch need not reveal reasons on why they let an appeal case with several marks below COP get through  Parents who hear such cases may not bother because subject sch not in their radar.

You will never get to hear the fate of the bottom 10% whether in RI or HCI for obvious reasons. In fact the bottom 20% generally failed to qualify for local business schools so hve to choose unpopular courses.

For the bottom few percent, no choice hve to take distance learning degrees or retake A-levels as a pte candiate.

Then, it is a concern. if it happens in education, it can also happen in other areas. And then, slowly our society degrades.

But generally speaking,MOE still won't gives the schools too much discretion in such practice. \"not revealing reasons\" until they are forced their hand is a general practice of the government of Singapore.

Every where is the world applies the same theory. As long as there are Money and Connections. Lowest aggregate also can enter TOP school.

Is probably true. George W Bush can get into Yale University though he was not particularly academic and intelligent. But universities benefit from connecting with such influential people also....maybe is a win-win proposition for the schools by allowing a small number of such students, many more that get in through proving their intellectual prowess also benefited.

That is not likely to happen in rgs. Nobody is going to be attracted to the money when the school already has more than enough.

but Yale is not a grade 7 high school
