      To PV experts,

I have a doubt, hope someone can enlighten me through this forum.

Is it true that I should give up being a PV if I stay more than 2km from the school. I hope to get a place into Poi Ching / Temasek, both more than 2km. Which school stand a higher chance? or should I look at other school instead.

      Thanks

From past balloting history, u would not need to ballot if u PV in Poi Ching. That is, staying out of 2km will still guarantee u a place if u qualify under 2B.

For Temasek Primary, there was only balloting in 2B for year 2008, and none for the other years.

Hence it seems that Poi Ching has a higher chance to get in without balloting for 2B. However what I said above is all based on past years history, anything can change during the year of ur child's registration.

      Hope it helps.

thks to both Luanee & dolphin to share on this info..do hope along the way we get more of such sharing of details..thks..

Hi! I noticed that you managed to find your way to the Tampines schs thread. Did you check out the very first page of that thread? Cos the balloting history is there. Here's the link to the balloting history: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/tampines

The school I wanted my child to go is less than 1km from my home. I check from SLA website. I am staying at tampines and choice of school are:

1st choice (St Hilda’s Primary), 2nd choice (Gongshang Primary), Chongzheng Primary (this 3 school less than 1km) Poi Ching (1-2km).

                        hi xiaolong,

St Hilda’s is a popular school, by all means, register early to be PV. It only hurts if you are late. I see some parents completing the required hours way before their child need to register.

Since you are within 1km, chances are quite high - but I remember it’s not so easy (ie may have to ballot) even within 1km.

Just remember that for St hilda’s, phase 2b includes also church members. Your other choices will only have pvs and grassroot leaders.
