theoretically it does not matter. if RGS is like RI, where SBGE is school-wide (contrast this to say HCI where only iSpark consortium is GEP), then all are doing the same curriculum

GEPpers are placed together because they have done SS and RE in primary school so they are expected to move faster in sec 1 while the rest who are from mainstream will be handheld wrt RE for a start until they are on par with those who come from GEP

that is the difference, but overall is the same

other parents with DD already in RGS can confirm this

Confirm. SBGE in RGS & RI is school-wide. There're DSA girls, girls taking elective program & girls not taking elective in my dd's class.

Can I say that every child admitted into rgs will be in some kind of Talent Development Programme?

There are a number of girls who choose not to be in any special programme in year 1; some fail to qualify.

Mine didn't, just focusing to stay afloat

Quote the Principal: \" Now the girls are small fish in a big pond\" it's ok, always encourage your DD, all in RGS in same boat, always giving encouragement that she is not alone …DD batch of GEPPERs in different classes share same feedback..trying very hard first six months of Yr 1, :grphug: there is a lot of adjustments from 4 subjects in P6 to so many subjects… it's alrite, the gals will find their own compass once the get used to the work load... :grphug:


many of us don't get to see DD home early.. actually the gals work harder than us (adults)!. up at 5.40am, then to school, with CCA & other projects, come home at 7.30 to 8pm. ……. Well, we always give positive encouragement, have fun in school, enjoy what you are doing! :celebrate: In fact, during holidays, DD is back in school, DD loves to go school, spend so many hours with her buddies!

Thanks for your encouragement. DD has become much more self motivated and love studying with her friends. What's causing anxiety is: they are tested at sec 2-3 standard. Compare to the normal sec 1 assessment questions, the questions tested in RGS are much more advanced.


Imagine this: One year ago, she was working on PSLE past year series, now she is using O level guide for her studies. what a huge difference!

Grades are like stock market, up and down. I am still trying to adjust my expectation. The positive thing is DD has strong resilience, she does not give up but persevere to study harder. Within one year, her maturity grows so much. I am proud of her. She simply loves her RGS experience and does not regret having choosen this path.

always reminds the gals: \"Now is small fish in Big Pond\", they are not alone, all in RGS is having this new experience! hahaha…. like the term used \"stock market!!! Yeah, good to manage expectations… just give lots of love & encouragement, the gals will swim along once they get used to the big pond environment! :celebrate:

DD's grandma, sometimes like to compare to cousins in SCGs & Cedar, why this & why that ,they (cousins) have so much time at home etc…DD politely replied: \"Ah Ma\" the curriculum and subjects taught just diff….some questions tested are 'O' level type! even at lower sec….. :salute:

I'm beginning to now.

ValYap and En-joy: Luckily, my dd is not the type who love to compare and compete (for the moment), she likes to go with the flow. So, maybe she won't feel too stressed out.

Another issue - just the mere thoughts that I will be seeing her very much less compare to primary school is freaking me out. :scared: I'm beginning to miss my baby. This sounds sadist - dd so sick last night and couldn't sleep due discomfort, and she cried like a baby (something that she has not done for a very long time). I actually felt so happy that I could cuddle and rock her to sleep! Really shudder to think of next year when she matures a lot - will she let me rock her to sleep again.

hehehe ,,, same here, was surprised that when DD first 1.5 month (around mid Feb), saw her Maths worksheet, what! these are O' level questions! U only in RGS 1.5 month doing these questions! hahaha… we getting used to it now….. :rahrah:
