Hi yukilei, thnx a lot for the details .... If Lib that is good as my DS always attached to books and can spend the time worthy... I always hear HP have less no of students in a class which is one way very good. not sure this year how as I hear schools like Rosyth and CH more than the 50 students admitted, though exact fig is not known based on what I see in the forum

Cluelessmama, there is a GEP orientation on 29th Dec from 11 am at NYPS. More info can be obtained then. If you can't wait, you can email your queries to NYPS GEP HOD:

Hey, don't be so easily discouraged. Hope you will stay the course for your kid. You have to be prepared that as the course progresses, your kid will need your support to ferry him/her around for projects and field trips. This is just a logistical problem that is not insurmountable. Keep your spirits up!

Hi, thanks for the encouragement and information on the orientation.

Acutually, I'm more concerned about her so called \"loss of childhood\". This is one of the reasons for my DH initial objection to GEP. He only relented when he say kid was interested. As for me, I have felt that GEP was the \"right choice\".

But now, I beginning to get worried. I want her to have a childhood. When I look her - I can only see a happy and well disciplined baby; I don't think I need a \"more disciplined baby through GEP\".

Sorry that I sound sentimental but this is really how I feel.

No worries about \"loss of childhood\"; these losses tend to be caused by parents, not school. The GE kids are very bright and don't need extra assessments to cope with mainstream syllabus. But if you wanna push yr child to be top in school, perhaps you need to pile him/her with loads of assessments from p1.

So really it depends on what the parents want. You've to find a balance and manage your own expectations. Give them their yearend holidays in P3/4. Let them have a childhood. There's no need to drill them in mainstream syllabus.

Anyone know what is the reading list for P4 GEP aside from the Charlotte Web?

And whether the Charlotte Web need to be from Pearson which indicated in the school book list? Can it be by other publisher? What is the difference?

I don't know whether I will get scolding but after looking at the number of days my baby needs to stay back, really feel like opting out of GEP.
cluelessmama, All we want is kids not be stressed and at the same time get the best . Parents are the best to know their kids potential and how much stress they can take . Main concern of the GEP is not the pgm itself but the add ons like extra tuitions like what mathsparks says + long journey and more CCA's (Long Hours even mainstream have ).

FYI . What I heard from another parent is if you decide not to o for GEP then the deadline is Dec 4th to inform MOE and school (but not sure where did they get this date) and after that the vacancy in current school will be given to waiting list parents .
