[ Of course if you want to take CL at A level, for eg Chinese Lit, you're more than welcome to do it.

This is precisely what we want to :siam: 😉

😉 😉 😉 I think a lot of students are happy to take the HCL O levels in Sec 4 and not have to take it at A levels. 🙂
I think it depends on the DSA school. If it's a SAP school, they may allow kids to apply through the bilingual domain (e.g. NYGH). If so, then HCL is important but if apply to schools that do not have or have other domains such as Math or GEP, then I suppose it's not that critical ... this is what I had observed during DS1's DSA but nevertheless, it may change ...

One of the advantages of doing HCL now is that , if the student got a credit in O level, he/she can be exempt fr chinese in A level. Read abt this in some KS thread but now can't locate the link now..

You take HCL at O level in Sec 4. If you obtain minimum D7, you're exempted from taking MT at JC. Of course if you want to take CL at A level, for eg Chinese Lit, you're more than welcome to do it.
Hi jtoh,
I happen to know of two HCI boys who are in JC 2 this year, they scored D6 and D7 but were required to take MT in JC1 to retake the exams. For Raffles JC is like what you stated.
This may be a factor in deciding between HCI and RI for some?

Anyone knows if the school will provide remedial lessons for those who are weaker in certain subjects ? If so, only in P5 onwards ?

Haven't gotten the paper but DD did say that comprehension is tough!

The last comprehension carries 26 marks.Understanding of the passage and Chinese must be good to do well for this particular comprehension. One of the question is to explain the understanding of 一寸光阴一寸金,寸金难买寸光阴.

Gotten the HCL paper back . Apparently, DD used her 'own words freely' and ended up with lots of crosses. Overall score is 15/ 26. Real killer.....
Seen the paper yesterday, DS2 got the front part all correct but lost all his marks in Comprehension, .... but he did got the question 一寸光阴一寸金,寸金难买寸光阴 correct. Wonder how's the EL paper ... another killer ... ?!

To my understanding, there shd be remedial class for the weaker students.. already on-going in P4.
