Cher, don't worry I am always cool because I am an advocate of liang teh, remember?Ermm... I'm drinking some liang teh, you want a sip dr? Chen too?
Ok, just a little miscommunication somewhere. :xedfingers:
However, I need to break this trend of saying things that I am not saying. It becomes a habit. If the habit is due to the iphone, ditch it and use the bigger Samsung Note II that is coming out soon.
PS: I am not selling Samsung smartphones ah.... later another inference.. :faint: -
If we are talking about quality of learning, shouldnโt we look at class size instead of teacher-student ratio (if the ratio is derived by total number of students / total number teachers).
Students mainly learn in classes, be it core subjects or enrichment subjects. Smaller class size allows students to participate more, teachers to manage the class better, teachers to understand the studentsโ capabilities/weaknesses better, hence increase the quality of learning right? -

:hi5: I have to reveal... I was drinking KSI liang teh bought from Woffi's Clinic! -

All you need to do is clarify. I already have the Samsung. Typing now. No emoticons. This kinda thing happens. Poor 2paamm got slapped around plenty by people inferring stuff she didn't mean. Happens to me too. Just clarify. These are words on a page. Sometimes not clearly written.

Besides relying on the school and MOE to improve teacher-student ratios, I would like to see more parental involvement in schools. No, I donโt expect parents to teach the academic subjects, but they can always help in other lessons in school. For example, parents can help in speech and drama classes, art classes, etiquette and character development classes, financial literacy classes, etc โฆ

Ooooh... How nice if moe could ever see it that way!If we are talking about quality of learning, shouldn't we look at class size instead of teacher-student ratio (if the ratio is derived by total number of students / total number teachers).

You are too idealistic

Ehh, just thought that before MOE start work on something, it should see what's the root cause of the problem. Thought that the teacher-student ratio is a wrong indicator of quality of learning.

Also from my experience. My DS's form teacher always tells me that she has nine monkeys to manage in the class during every Parent-Teacher meeting / complaint session she has with me. That is 9/30 = 30%. So if the class is smaller, maybe she has less monkeys to handle, or have more time to focus on the monkeys (higher chance for the monkeys to become angels)..
Haha...maybe really too idealistic. -

Laura, you are being holistic in your approach. However, if I am not wrong, the main issue in the learning now is the academic learning. Unless you mean taking away non-core subjects like CME, art, music, SS, HE from the teachers and they only focus on the 4 PSLE subjects. -
Maemoโฆ if I remember right this new class size ratio was a target set years back. MOE has not changed anything here. I am happy for other reasons. I too am not exactly hot about the current ratio.
