Just went to LC @ TB for assessment, and the teacher advised my 6yos son to start LaunchPad Ignition programme. I looked thru the workbook and think it is likely too easy for my son cos he read rather well. The teacher insisted that he will progress to liftoff after one term cos my son needed some emphasis on phonics. Should I just go with the recommendation or ask him to start at liftoff instead?
Is like going to a doctor and dun believe in what the doctor tell you. I believe your child just need the ignition programme to practise some parts that he's weak in. Cause liftoff is very intensive 9 mths course which makes the child a independent reader at the end of it. But they must have the required skills before promoting to Liftoff. -

Fully agree. There is a K1 boy in liftoff program who knows all the individual phonics sound to decode words. But after putting together 5 sounds, he still can't make out what the 3-syllabus word was supposed to be. And then again, if the boy can read well already, he most probably would not need the enrichment program.Sopdav79:

Is there any minimum age for the Foundation prog? Went for the assessment and the teacher kinda hint that my girl is still too young
-
Hi Janiz,
As long as your child is toilet trained and 3 and above, she is able to join Foundation. But i know some centres who accepts 2.5 years as long as they are ready. -
Hi
I just went to LCentral at Novena. Is Teacher David good? He seems quite stern to me. My boy is now attending Speech and Drama in which teacher there are very passionate and warm. But from the first meeting of this teacher David, I feel that he is quite distant and seems very "mechanic".
Can mommies who has kids taught by Teacher David give some reviews.
Many thanks. -
Hi xueyan!
I spoke to Teacher David when i last visited Lcentral novena. Ya he doesnt give people the \"warm feeling\"...
When he was explaining the curriculum to me, my mind couldnt help but drifted off few times.. maybe because of his serious and monotonous tone...
But to be fair, i cant comment on his teaching style, maybe his stern ways can actually make all the kids \"sit up\" in their class and listen?...:)
If you have a choice, maybe you can try Teacher Jessica (anyway only 2 teachers in that branch) as she is very smiley and seems to be that kind of teacher who will know how to engage kids. My son joined their open house storytelling session and enjoyed himself. He came out commenting, \"Mummy, are all caucasians sooo nice like Teacher Jessica?\"...

Can someone advise if LC at marine parade is good? Any recommended teachers? And what’s diff btn LC and Icreative? TIA!

Hi IloveChubby
I was told that teacher Jessica do not teach foundation level. So i think i may have to consider other branch, maybe Kovan as this will be another option as i stay in Punggol.
May i ask how old is your kid? Is your kid with teacher Jessica. How do you find Lcentral?
Thanks. -
Hi Xueyan
Oh i didnt know T Jessica does not teach foundation. Btw i just heard from another mummy whose kid is in T David’ class - her kid (3+) enjoyed his class… Maybe you can let your kid go for a trial (thk its free?) for both branches and see which class/teacher she likes.
No, my kids are currently not with Lcentral, still exploring some options while waiting for a new class to start, if any.
