All Schools are GOOD Schools

Got patent rights or not? :scratchhead:ksi:
HSK is trying his best to do a good job, don't let the \"sentimental fools\" issue blind your vision, we do need \"sentimental fools\" in the education too, it is an INTEGRAL part of the education.
Eh...that looks somehow familiar...where did I see it??!! :scratchhead:

Why should sentiments feeling of A gain precedence over practical considerations of B?
Yes we are all foolish sentimental fools but it is with such fools that the world is a better place to live in. So if we don't cultivate such sentimental fools, we will end up having to feel even more sorry for ourselves in years to come.... Hope you get a better picture now.

That, is the issue.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being sentimental.
But that shouldn't come with entitlement or priority over others who have other practical considerations.
And.. your love for your alma mater need not shift even if your kids don't get to study in that loved school. It will forever be your alma mater even if it is not your kid's. -
Every school is a good school reminds me of the famous propagandist in the Animal Farm "2 legs good…2 legs good"…but "4 legs better…"

Duh....how come this subject heading sounds so familiar? :? When I see this heading I see Chenonceau. Hasn't it been discussed extensively before?

Every school is a good school. That line is a joke now.
If every school is a good school, why can't we find ministers' kids in the neighbourhood schools. Why are there IP or GEP? Parents are willing to become parent volunteers or move to stay within 1km from the elite or better schools. My brother stays in Punggol & he drives his kids to Nanyang Pri every morning. -

I don't believe it. How's the term \"Good\" been measured with? Good teachers, good principal or good materials or good facilities? Sorry, have not watch the youtube yet to give this comment. Just my thoughts at this moment.“Every School [is] a Good School” – as highlighted by Minister Heng in his speech.
What do you think about this? -

exactly !
Similarly for the U too. -
If ALL our schools are good schools, is it possible to find ministers' kids or grandkids studying there? As of now, NATO.

No la, doc ksi - not that Limlim San is not sentimental. He is perhaps, never in love with his schools. Actually I can relate to his thoughts in this aspect. my alma Mata is no longer around. So I naturally go for the nearest school, unless I have some reservations with it. But then, even if my primary school is still around, I won't put my kid thru it. Simply because it is too far - 12 mrt stations and 2 feeder trips by public transport. Or $10-13 per trip by taxi (including erp and surcharges). Or 25min drive, including the countless traffic lights and erp gantry.
If your first love is a childhood friend whom you played with every day and fell in love with, after she moved house, will you still think of her? Best is next door a new neighbour moves in with a prettier and smarter daughter, same age as your childhood friend, will you simply shift your love from that childhood friend to this new prettier and smarter girl next door? Let us know..limlim:
If he dares to remove alumni priority, then I believe him.
If every school is indeed a good school, naturally most pple would choose the nearest school, isn't it? so, distance priority should be the only criteria in P1 admission to send the STRONG message.

Maybe we would put our kid into hubby's primary school, if it is still around. And why - because it is close (less than 50m from where we stay).
But I definitely understand all of you who feel strongly about your alma mater and why you wish your children to be there and be nurtured in the same way. If I am an old boy from schools with a rich \"history\" or very historical school ground (like the old chij or ski), sure - I also want my child to be there. But unfortunately, I am never that in love with my alma mater.
If any, the only alma mater that I would love to put my child into, would be the pre-primary place that I went to. But it was no longer around, since it was part of my primary school. For hubby, he was only in love with his sec sch. So, yup - I can understand why Limlim San only want the nearest school. Because perhaps like me and hubby, he is never so in love with his primary school.
