This forum (and this thread) is really lively.
Hi! iβm new to here too. I was looking for primary school information when this website came up. My boy is 5yo. Am I too kiasu? But I just want the best start for him, is all. Singapore is a very tough environment to grow up in. -

If I remember correctly you mentioned in one of your posts that u stayed in the States for a couple of years. Just returned here not too long ago? Welcome home ! :rahrah:
The parents here are all very warm and fun loving . And I see that you have made yourself comfortable @ Club Only Child Club already.
Hope to see you around more often.

Haha thank you yes we just came back. Itβs been a couple of months already. Still trying to decide if I want to go back to the long working hours & good money or stay home & no money. Can I have the best of both worlds? Lol

You have to discuss that with your DH to come to a consensus.
This is my personal opinion :
Money wise, it is never enough and can always try to earn it back later...However, DC's childhood cannot wait. Once it is over, we can never \"chase\" it back. Just want to be there at their growing up stage.

The thing is i don't know how i can try to earn the money back at a later date, judging by singapore's competitive and highly judgmental climate.

I took a 2 year hiatus precisely because i wanted to be there during his young years. He wasn't growing up the way I wanted him to and picking up all sorts of nasty habits.
Now I am looking to go back to my old industry. I went for a couple of interviews and \"oh... you were away for 2 years\" was common. I felt like i had to justify why i went away. It was better when the interviewer was an ang moh. They get it and seem to understand. The local employers... let's just say there's room for improvement.
I know that I'm good at what I do, I have the relevant skills and more and being a mum has given me skill sets that i don't think one can get anywhere else. But employers don't see it like that.
IMHO, we, who have gone thru the whole shenanigan of marriage and parenthood, could be even better employees because we would have learnt so much from being parents. We're accountants, mediators, cleaners, educators (hard & soft skills), drivers, (insert whatever you like here!).
