The title of this thread should really be \"People, what do you really expect the g'ment to do?\"
People expect everything to be laid out on a platter. I luurve PM's riposte during the televised session last week to the young man who said he didn't want to get married. Well, our parents had far fewer resources and safety nets, never stopped them from having hopes and dreams and daring to try right?
Maid off every weekend so difficult to deal with meh?
If you are a SAHM, then it's not.... but if you are a FTWM you can't even have a decent day off on Sunday cos your FW helper is having hers.... in this case, a FTWM is a worse job than a FW domestic helper... this could just be one of the reasons that the yuppies generation are delaying their motherhood.... -
I find that there are not enough home based jobs around or even flexible jobs (2-3 days workdays).
Want to return to be \"part-time\" working mother also difficult. Only mostly full time jobs.

I also don't trust others (except childcare with open concept , and parents) to look after kids in preschool age, incase anything happen.
Just mention that, for adhoc, use parents' or family network. Parents' network means have a few SAHM friends staying nearby around the same area to help one another out for adhoc stuff.ksi:

Put in childcare also need someone to pick them up, if the young kids are sick, need someone to look after them.
Actually the parents' network are our supposedly close friends.....we don't trust our close and like-minded friends? I do...especially when I love their kids like my own and they love mine like their own too.....in fact my worry is not trust but if I am imposing and causing inconvenience to my friends. Anyway this hardly happens because I keep myself fit 24/7, 365 days so I don't have to trigger this option but I do know I have the option to trigger if I need to.

Now they got FTs to contribute to society... maybe they want women to return to the kitchen..? :evil:First, you encourage all women to work and make contribution to the society. So, women work.
Problem solved.. -

Agree with ksi. I usually arrive school half an hour early. Have been doing that since my girl is P1 so I got to know a lot of parents who waited at the gate. After 6 years of hello here and there, I made a few good friends with the mommies there. There was once when I held up by some medical appt with my mum, called one of the mommies for help. She readily agree to bring my dd back to her home, ensure that she has lunch with her ds and did homework together before I arrived. Am grateful for such help when the time arises.
:hi5: It happened to me too but rarely like your case because we try to be as self-sufficient as possible...but when it is required, we really feel thankful right? and we do the same for others too. I am taking care of some kids weekly by bringing extra food when I bring for my kid. It does not take much for me to do that.
