I think my DS's school has done the right thing. DS came back yesterday saying that the school will give the P6s extended recess to \"play\" today after all the hardwork. DS was so thrilled. 🕺

Beside, the schoolwork given is manageable cos DS still sleeps as per normal & have time to play his phone game.

Other than this, no extra stay back other than the one that he's been having thru out the year.

I'm happy that the school is not pushing the children. 😄

My dd too is still going to school and I intend to let her continue. She’s even still going for her swimming training twice a week at least until end of this week. No point keeping her at home, she’d be bored to death.

This week onwards I think her school is tapering down on homework. Just a few worksheets a day, not full practice papers.

My DD's school had (not sure if rightly or wrongly) started to pull back on homework/practices since last week. Instead, they are managing the kids' state of mind. Hopefully, this is the correct strategy.

Whether it's right or wrong, it's all perception. Some parents at this stage want their children to do lots of work. I've encountered some who cramped all the enrichment at this period. Some parents will think there's no point pushing now, but instead, let the children have enough rest. Many KSP parents believe in this.

Sometimes, I think it's difficult for the schools as well. There's no one size fits all. The school has to make the call & stand by its decision.

DS’ school keeps them back till 3.30 everyday. I have asked him to skip all the supplementary next week so that he can get enough rest.

I think it is pointless to inform the P or even Education minister about this...at this point when the issue of unreasonable or demanding parents is so 'hot'. But seriously, Mr HSK shouldn't make it seem as though parents are demanding and unreasonable. There are teachers who are unreasonable.

To think that they can talk to a parent this way is tactless.
I had went into HSK's facebook recently to give feedback. I told him that PSLE today is like O level in the past. Just look at the syllabus, the hours of supplementary lessons & amount of homework. The kids are so stressful & they do not get to enjoy their childhood. Scrapping school banding will not help. There are still GEP & IP, if every school is a good school, then not every school is equally good. Maybe more mummies should go to HSK's facebook to give feedback to him directly. He should look into parents' concern & improve the current education system before the next GE.

My son will be studying at home this week...it's so much easier to arrange his tuition as such. But what pisses me is the amount of homework still issued. Next Thur is the start of written papers. Why still piling the kids?

A friend asked her son's FT why past year papers were still being piled on at this point. The teacher told her that if she feels that it is too much, then she bears the responsibility if homework isn't done. Wow! Is this called threatening?

Maybe your friend should question the FT if the homework is not marked or go through in class. No point to give homework for the seek of giving. If this is the case, should feedback to principal, MOE or Education Minister. I had SMS my boy's teachers to ask them not to give homework next week. This week still have a lot of homework. Considering of not going to school next week.

I get about one paper for each subject everyday. It becomes a chore for many

Just wondering if doing paper after paper is the way to go. Will the kids go :siao: ? Are the teachers explaining answers for open ended section, and if they are teaching students the correct way to answer.

The one day that my son went to school seemed to be fruitless...swop papers to mark and bring home more :faint: that day was hazy too, and he came home with wet eyes and blocked nose.

My dd wakes up at 5.30am and by the time shes back after tution etc, shes wiped out, the only time she has no enrichment class is on sunday.

Recently ive been pumping her vith more vitamins like adult multivite, additional B vitamin if she has classes till nite. vit C, Dha. cod liver oil and a brain vitamin called IQ memory for alertness and focus. (will stop this after psle ) Shes still tired.

Errr.. Pity her liver, has to work extra hard  🤷
