Ds's school will not have supplementary next week. Phew...that's the only time he is going to rest and I'm just going to leave him alone. I think we can't be putting so much pressure on them, give them lots of hugs and kisses. :please: :please: :rahrah: :rahrah:

My dd wakes up at 5.30am and by the time shes back after tution etc, shes wiped out, the only time she has no enrichment class is on sunday.

Recently ive been pumping her vith more vitamins like adult multivite, additional B vitamin if she has classes till nite. vit C, Dha. cod liver oil and a brain vitamin called IQ memory for alertness and focus. (will stop this after psle ) Shes still tired.

Errr.. Pity her liver, has to work extra hard  🤷
Maybe can consider stopping the tuition & night class??? Rest is very much more impt.

For those still looking for Stabilo 1186 erasers, you can try Japan Home (6 pcs for $3.90).

Saw it at the Bugis branch yesterday, but the shop is undergoing reno soon.

Interested parents can try calling up other branches to check if they have stock.

I’m not sure why school is scaring the children as if PSLE is like the end of the world if they do not do well. They also attempted to reward them telling them if they improve by XX marks, they will get some materialistic thing. My child told me they are getting more scared. The school and staff must have some KPI to meet. Do they know that doing so may have the opposite effect?! Is that the right thing to do!?!!

I feel that this should be highlighted to HSK. He should know what is happening and what the school is doing in its attempt to get glory.
This is ridiculous ! Every child is already so stressed  As long as they have done their best, that is EFFORT. It's obvious they are trying to exceed the KPI.

I give my son Brand's chicken essence for his 'major' papers to increase alertness. For Math, I tell him to drink it before his Paper 2 (problem sums)...since he is fresh in the morn. Brands takes 1 hour to reach full effectiveness.

Errrrmmmm. Are we over-reacting? I think the intention is to give them some motivation to look forward to, I dun think we should always lump it with trying to meet their KPI. If i am a teacher, i can jolly well dun waste my own money cos we all know that parents & their tutors will be pushing hard for good results anyway......
Maybe it's me, I dun quite understand. :scratchhead: I do that sometimes & some of my kids' teachers as well eg. if they get certain award during competition & the whole team will get a treat to pizza.
My kids do not tell me they are scared, in fact they looked forward to it.

I would reason with my kids that as teachers, they will be proud when their students do well. Similarly, as parents, we will be proud when our children do well. Intention the same.
Importantly, we, the parents should be calming our kids down & assuring them that we still will love & accept them whatever the result is.

I am calming my son by letting him revise at home…sleep in till 8 and not pumping him with loads and loads of past year papers. When he goes to school, he gets pumped with past year papers. That is unhealthy.

With just a week to go, it is time to slow down. We can’t expect teachers to know each and every child’s weaknesses. So as parents, we have to know our kids’ limits. Over-exertion will only lead to melt down and mind block. I dare not take this risk. I encourage and motivate. My son knows we are maintaining momentum.

BeContented, I do agree with you. I remembered our teachers did push us when we did our PSLE. They did emphasise how impt it was as well. Just that, maybe our parents dun really understand what's happening & thus leave us in the hands of teachers. I personally dun feel any stress during PSLE cos my mum dun even know which sec schools are good. She just simply tell me must pass.

Maybe this is a good training ground on teaching our children how to handle stress. & before teaching our children, we need to learn to manage it ourselves first. DS teachers has been telling them that their class must do better than classes. However, DS dun really feel stress he always treat PSLE as another exam regardless of what the teachers had said. As for schoolwork, he told himself this is short term & once exam is over, he'll be able to enjoy himself.
