Thank goodness MOE does not plan to be drastic in their actions. The best line I like is a call for a change of mindset as well. It has to be collaborative for success.

Whenever there is new minister on board, there are bound to be changes.
Education portfolio isn't easy to handle but our ministers are paid handsomely to do so

Scrapping PSLE is definitely a NO NO. But something needs to be done about it. With stakes so high, it's very natural that kids will go for tuition.

For some of us, we are already competing on a global platform and it can be cut-throat. This means that not only must we be technically strong, we also need to be culturally sensitive as well as being able to learn, unlearn and re-learn very quickly. I try to teach my DC such skills (eg personal effectiveness, effective communication, presentation, how to xxxxxx) because I believe they will be relevant in the corporate world. Technical knowledge is fixed and every organisation will likely be doing the same in more or less similar way. Am also trying to bring my DC up as global citizens apart from ensuring academic competence.

Yay! They've just made a HUGE change with taking away banding... and SEA. There will already be plenty to do trying to see both changes through to stability and calm. I'm not sure people and MOE itself are ready to cope with taking away PSLE.

Some pressure is needed, that's why we need PSLE. But this pressure should not be overwhelming. If kids do not face PSLE, they won't know the urgency at O levels, A levels. But Mr HSK and Mr LW, please lower the stakes. At 11+, 12 years old, the poor kids are stressed.

During our time, there’s no pressure at all. Think because time has changed & there’re so much competition out there, no wonder parents & kids are under pressure. Still need to wait till p6, then I can c the real fire. Now I still very relax.
