$4200 is inclusive of extraction of teeth.

Apricot,
I have checked with a few clinics
and their packages do not include
the costs for x-ray and extraction.
So does the $4200 package include x-ray too?
And how much does it cost for follow-ups?
Would you recommend Dr Tan?
Maybe can share your experience.
Thanks.
$4200 is also inclusive of X-ray and follow-ups. Please note this is the normal metal braces. Dr Tan was actually recommended by a friend of ours. I too checked with other clinics and found that his was reasonably priced as he is an orthodontist not just a dentist. I did a google search on him and his firm and found good reviews on him before I decided on him.
My personal experience with him has been good so far. I found him to be very professional as I was in the dental room when he did the extraction and braces for my dd. Very fast and efficient. He also took the trouble to explain how to manage the braces initial discomfort and brush e teeth. Gave her the special toothbrush/gel for any braces pain. His business is very good, so appointment has to be fixed in advance. -
Thanks for sharing.
Have made an appointment with Dr Tan for dd.

Have made an appointment with Dr Tan for dd.
If you feel comfortable with Dr Tan after the Xray consultation, you could opt for your dd to extract teeth immediately (if he has the time). But do prepare your dd before she goes for the appointment. My dd was terrified when Dr Tan mentioned that she had to extract 4 teeth due to overcrowding. I had to take time to persuade her outside the clinic before we went in again. Wanted this done soon so that any initial discomfort my dd may have will not coincide with the coming school tests.

Hi, my dd is with Embrace Dental already for several months. Actually Dr Tan n the assistants are quite nice, you can always ask or call them if have any questions. So far, they have patiently answered my queries as I was unfamiliar with braces. Can anyone of you please provide me with more details about Embrace Dental? Because I just started treatment at that clinic and the doctor gave me very little instructions on what to do.
Im really very dissapointed now. My metal braces package costs more than $4200 but the main problem is that he seldom talk to me. I was only provided with a small brush and 1 box of wax?
Can anyone please tell me what items did you receive after putting on the metal braces? I saw one of the previous post that you received gel to apply?
And I googled and found out that most orthodontist will teach the patient to floss because flossing is important after getting braces. Did he taught any of you or am I the only one whom did not get teach?
For first visit, my dd was also given only small brush & wax (gel). Small mount of wax is put on any surface of tooth/braces like a cushion if u feel that it is rubbing/poking your gum and causing high level of discomfort.
To floss e teeth, you need to buy special dental floss for braces. U can get these at guardian or watsons. It comes in a box of strings of individual floss and each floss has a 'stiff needle-like' edge. To floss, just use e stiff edge and thread between your individual teeth. Quite tedious, have to do upper and lower part of braces separately. My dd only floss twice a week. U can check youtube on how to floss braces effectively if u want a clearer picture. Hope it helps.

My dentist didnโt tell me to floss when I was wearing braces last timeโฆ But no big deal as long as you brush consistently and take less sweet stuff. There was no staining at all after the removal of the braces. I saw some of friends had stained teeth after they removed their braces and I think itโs due to them having a sweet tooth.
If you like to take sweet stuff, make sure you eat or drink it fast. Sipping on sweet drinks the whole day does more damage to the teeth than drinking the same cup of drink in one go. -
Actually when the teeth are shifting, then there is pain. Metal braces work on heat, so taking a glass of cold water would help to alleviate some pain.

go for the metal traditional braces. and also ensure your dentist will recommend you to put on a retainer wire after your braces have been removed. this will ensure your childโs teeth still be in shape years after braces been removed. especially children with weak gums, lower teeth shifts easily, and then upper teeth will follow.

:thankyou: My dd did the normal metal braces.
was it fast painless? how much it cost roughly?
Sorry, for such late reply. My dd braces cost $4200 for the package including a set of retainers. She did it at Embrace Dental under Dr Tan. Extracted 4 teeth at one go. The dentist did it as if pulling carrots out from the ground.... really fast. My dd said that it was painful but it was probably more psychological than actual pain since she was given injections to numb the area. The mouth felt slightly sore after that but she could eat 3 hours later. The braces was only fitted following week.[/quote] -
Hi, how do you all find out when your DS/DD needs braces? Referrals from the school dentist or you walk in to the clinics to ask?
