Laura02:
Just sharing some stress relief.

I got this from OnSponge. Some kids' answers to Science exam ques.
Q: Name the four seasons.
A: Salt, pepper, mustard and vinegar.

Q: Explain one of the processes by which water can be made safe to drink.
A: Flirtation makes water safe to drink because it removes large pollutants like grit, sand, dead sheep and canoeists.

Q: How is dew formed?
A: The sun shines down on the leaves and makes them perspire.

Q: How can you delay milk turning sour? (Brilliant, love this!)
A: Keep it in the cow.

Q: What causes the tides in the oceans?
A: The tides are a fight between the Earth and the Moon. All water tends to flow towards the moon, because there is no water on the moon, and nature hates a vacuum. I forget where the sun joins in this fight.

Q: What are steroids?
A: Things for keeping carpets still on the stairs.

Q: What happens to your body as you age?
A: When you get old, so do your bowels and you get intercontinental

Q: What happens to a boy when he reaches puberty?
A: He says good-bye to his boyhood and looks forward to his adultery. (The kid gets an A+ for this answer!)

Q: Name a major disease associated with cigarettes.
A: Premature death.

Q: How are the main parts of the body categorized? ( e.g., abdomen)
A: The body is consisted into three parts -- the brainium, the borax and the abdominal cavity. Th e brainium contains the brain; the boraxcontains the heart and lungs, and the abdominal cavity contains the five bowels A, E, I, O, and U.

Q: What is the fibula?
A: A small lie.

Q: What does 'varicose' mean? (I do love this one...)
A: Nearby.

Q: Give the meaning of the term 'Caesarian Section.'
A: The Caesarian Section is a district in Rome.

Q: What does the word 'benign' mean?'
A: Benign is what you will be after you be eight.
You can purchase a clear pencil case ... Exam pencil case

Oh what is Exam pencil case? Do DC need that? DS did not mention anything at all!! He is still using friction pen though I told him not to.....Afraid he might not get use to other pen or his work might be messy..... šŸ˜“

I think it's better not to use friction pen, as answers might rub off or become illegible. I'm getting dd to use just good old fashion ball point pen, as less likelihood of smudging as well.

My only worry right now is that dd uses a tremendous amount of correction tape in her daily work. Been trying to \"train\" her to cut down on the correction tape, but bad habits die hard...
Check with DS, he said transparent pencil case is optional. Friction pen at your own risk!!

Like to check can DS correction tape the wrong word but not to write on them, write beside it instead?

If he correction tapes a lot, there will be no space to write ... If he is a smart boy/girl, he or she will disobey you. If he is very gong-gong, then he will get anxious and waste time in the exam wondering HOW he is gonna NOT write on the correction tape.

Leave the kiddies alone. Feed them and encourage them. Don't give any more of the last minute Dun Do This and That and The Other. How many marks can you get more... and how many marks could you potentially lose because you've thrown a spanner into the works at the last minute?

Chenonceau:
To all the 12 Year Olds that log in here because they are such GOOD children who WANT to do well here is some advice from a psychologist...

(1) Stay calm. Just because everyone else is squealing their stress doesn't mean you have to. The more you think you are stressed, the more stressed you will be. That will interfere with your focus especially if you cannot channel your energy properly.

(2) Do your best. Whatever will be will be. There is a measure of LUCK in every exam. If you don't do well, it DOES NOT mean you are dumb. You should NEVER let any exam tell you you're stupid. Never lose faith in yourself because faith can move mountains.... if not now, later in life. Never lose faith in yourself.

(3) Know that there are many many Mommies and Daddies on this forum on the sidelines to cheer you on.

(4) Know that whatever stress your parents pile on you, they do it because they love you. Look past their scoldings and see their love for you. This will give you strength in the darkest hour.

(5) If the exam is difficult, it is difficult for EVERYONE. The silly PSLE is a bell curve. It doesn't matter how many questions you can't do as long as even the best in the subject ALSO doesn't know how to do.

With many kisses and hugs from Aunty Chen, go face your PSLE like a Warrior King/Queen. No fear.
:goodpost: :goodpost:

All the best to your DS, Chenonceau !

This is what my DS plans to do when he gets back from school today...

- lunch
- go for haircut (though is not very long)
- nap for an hour
- revise through those mistakes he made in past papers
- sleep at 930pm

He told me \" mummy, I am going to take it easy so that I can be very calm for the exam\" šŸ™‚
