Thank you so much. I also told my DD to combine her answer with my proposed answer. Somehow she could not follow and gave me a blank look...
this is a p3 sci question, so the answer is as per ur dd's answer.HAPPYH:
I came across this question
Caterpillar was kept in a air-tight glass bottle. The question is: Would the caterpillar grow into pupa? Explain your answer.
My DD's answer is No. Caterpillar needs air, food and water to grow into pupa.
Is this answer correct? I thought the answer should be there is no air, food and water in the glass bottle.
Kindly share your views.
Thank you in advance.
\"No, the caterpillar needs air, food and water to grow into pupa, since there is no air, food and water for the caterpillar in the glass bottle, it cannot grow into a pupa.
but if the same question is in the p5 or p6 exam, the ans should be basing on which stage of the caterpillar it is, that is whether it has just hatched into caterpillar (early stage) or just going to be a pupa (late stage).
if it is still at early stage, the caterpillar cannot grow into pupa because the caterpillar has to feed on many leaves to grow bigger until it reaches the pupa stage as no food is eaten at the pupa stage.
if it is at the late stage of the caterpillar, it means the caterpillar has already eaten enough food to grow into a pupa so it will become a pupa and still survive as no food is required in the pupa stage.
hope it helps to clear ur doubts..
How can we differentiate whether the question is from diversity or cycles? My goodnesss. -

I would answer it this way though...I came across this question

No, the caterpillar will not grow into a pupa. There is insufficient air in the air-tight glass bottle and hence the caterpillar will die before it can grow into a pupa.
