All About Full-Time Maids

The Little Cheng Mommy:
You are so steady. If my maid does this, I will fire her immediately.Hi there, just wondering if anyone has employed maid who has boyfriends? Care to share how to handle such situation?
My current maid (married with kids, 1st time in S'pore and been with us for 1 year) has been going out with her Bangladesh boyfriend (who lives in a NEARBY construction site) for the past 8 months on her monthly off day and sometimes even on weekdays when she walks back from my MIL's house at night. I learnt about this through my mom's maid.
Initially i refused to believe. But on several occasions (few months back), I could smell the distinctive body odor of the Bangladesh construction worker (no offense) after she came home. I became suspicious. Since she's always busy sms-ing away at night, I secretly (& guiltily) checked mobile and saw her sms to bf. Just last week, she lied about going out to buy pads after dinner & again, she had the body odor when she came home and carried a big bag of stuff (hmm..did she buy the pads?).
My mom's maid even told us that my maid is very serious about this relationship and even wants to marry him (!).
My whole family knows about this, but we act blur cos
1. we're afraid she'll hurt my son or family when we confront her
2. she's okay with housework
3. we know her two children need her money for education
4. so far, her relationship has not affected us (it's her own social life)
I have to admit, it's really good to have maids to do the housework for us, but the psychological burdens (about stealing, making too many friends and gossiping their employee's details to other maids (thanks to my maid, I now know so much more details about my next door neighbor than before) , about lying, about bringing boyfriends home etc etc etc) can sometimes be too overwhelming. After her contract ends next September, I'll rather not employ one anymore. Let the house be less tidy. Let the grease and dust and heaps of unironed clothes pile up.
I'll rather live peacefully again without too much thoughts. -

pineapple tarts,
Me too. I cannot imagine my maid bringing the Bangla home when no one is around or only my kids are at home. My blood pressue will shoot up if both of them Hanky Panky on my bed. :x
Sms at night ? Well... I confiscated my current maid hp. From my opinion, they are here to work and not for vacation. Since here to work, why does they need to carry a hp ? I might be inhumane but whenever I visualize my maid chit chatting on the hp and hack care my bb when she is crying hysterically then she cannot blame me for been cruel. -

If come into our house then jia lud already. Anything can happen. Stealing or hanky panky still secondary. Most frightening if they do anything to the kids. Boys will also get molested u know? I will never tolerate if BOYFRIEND come into the picture. I will send her off immediately. Having said so, my maid does have day off once a month & her HP to use. So far she is discipline enough to use her HP only at night. -
Yes me too! Can’t tolerate maid who brings man home. The Little Cheng Mommy, you can even smell the boyfriend??!! Wow! It will really freak me out!!

One of previous ones got very bad bad breath. Later then she say her wisdom tooth on & off give her problem. I quickly transfer her out after her loan. Agent also dare not transfer her, just send her back as she has no insurance for dental. -

Would like to share my experience ... This was when I had just delivered my DS and b4 I discovered KS forum
. Couldn't be so vigilant then and was also new to employing maids.
My previous maid had bad breath (BB) and BO. Then I found out that she only changed her undergarments once evry 2 days :faint: I found this out by chance because I was sharing this with my galfrd abt the BB and BO thingee. She advised me to check whether the maid washed her undergarments evryday. True enough, she only washed them once evry two days. It was also confirmed by the fact that she only washed her normal clothes evryday.
Lesson learnt: Just ensure that your maids bathe and wear fresh undergarments everyday.
For current maid, to prevent this situation, I explicitly told her that she has to change her undergarments evryday and to shower aft completing housewk. I also went out and bought her a deoderant, but so as not to add any insult to her, I made up a story abt how I got it as a free gift and I was giving it to her. In response, she informed me that she already had one, so I advised her to use it evryday cuz of the warm weather.
 -
For me, I got a specific pole for my maid to hang her clothes. I told her when she 1st came that she must bathe & change twice a day. So every night I will check her pole. Weather so hot how to change undies only after 2 days ? :!:

i’ve been reading the thread from the beginning, wah this thread moves very fast.
I’m at a crossroad, not sure if i should retain my maid who wants an increase (willing to pay up to S$360-370 (she’s been with me for 4 years), but if she asked for more than that i think i’m a little burden).
My fear is to deal with new maids if they are problematic. Of course I won’t say this maid is perfect, if i were to nitpick i would say, she has a lot of faults, but I close my eyes to those as long as it is minor, such as not doing a good job of cleaning, cooking, a little lazy etc. -

If in your shoes, I will offer the increment and hope that she stays. New maids do not come much cheaper either. And really a known 'evil' is better then and unknown one.i've been reading the thread from the beginning, wah this thread moves very fast.
